Check it out.  I almost ran two days in a row!  Almost.  Today was nice.  It was only 81°.  As I ran next to the canal, I saw something alongside the dirt road.  At first I thought it was ducks.  Why do I always think everything's ducks??  The closer I got, the less it looked like ducks, and the more it looked like, I don't know, somebody's work gear or something?  Then I thought, "Is that a body?  No, it has to be ducks!"  Finally I could make out exactly what it was.  A body!  Come on!  How has nobody seen this yet?  Why me?  Please be a hobo sleeping!  Please!  I need you to be a hobo!

Thank goodness that's what it was.  He was laying on his side on top of his yoga mat.  He had a backpack and a bicycle.  His face looked purplish and dead.  But right before I yelled at him, he moved.  So I said, "Good morning!" and startled him.  Another crisis averted.  But wait.  If he's sleeping there, that can only mean one thing.  Somebody else must have beat him to the bench at the magic water fountain.  Yes indeed.  There was another hobo at the MWF.  I decided not to get a drink.  Who knows if he'd been french kissing it.

A year ago someone really did find the body of a homeless person in the river along the running trail up Provo Canyon where I usually run. I was glad it wasn't me.

I have two more shifts in the field left working my canal. Hopefully I can make it without finding any bodies.

Hey Burt,

You got a couple runs in this month! Good to see that. I'm thinking maybe you have another one planned for Saturday (Tues, Thurs, Sat)! Hope you and your family are well.

I bet he totally was french kissing it. Can you ever really use it again?

From The Quiet Pirate on Fri, Aug 17, 2012 at 12:42:49 from 152.26.59.252

I thought it was the way the fountain kissed you back that made it truly magical.

Nice job on the runs-

PRE - Saturday for sure. Hope you're doing well, also.

Joe - You know I'll use it again. Unless I find out that he was making sweet sweet love to it.

QP - If you want to know if he loves you so, it's in his kiss.

Nice 3 milers this last week. I think you may need a new route. The MWF seems cool but not if you're running into hobos/possible cadavers.

Nice running Burto!

You could make a race out of this... The Hobo 5K, you might even take first. Winner gets the Magic Water Fountain kissing rights.
