I wanted to run double digits today, but I got up way too late.  I was going to get up at 5am, but at 4am I heard my dog barking.  I got up and saw she had no water.  Anyway, I knew I didn't want to get up in one more hour, so I slept in.  I finished my run at noon and it was 101 degrees out.  I ran along the Consolidated Canal.  Saw a bunch of big fish in the canal.  I took a GU chomp every 2 miles.  After 4 miles I decided it was time to turn around.  Now the wonderful headwind that was keeping me cool was no longer there, and guess what.  It was hot!  Luckily, I wasn't too far from Freestone Park, so I finished off my water and refilled.  Then I went the rest of the way home stopping occasionaly to cross the street and once under the US60 underpass because of the wonderful shaded relief.

Time - 1:15:30 (avg. pace 9:26)

Splits - 9:14, 9:23, 9:37, 9:43, 9:23, 9:34, 9:35, 9:03

Temp - 101

101?!? You are a machine! I don't think I could hang!

Freestone Park is a nice place to run. I used to run there sometimes.

Oh, and great job getting out and running today.

From Scott Ensign on Sat, Jun 26, 2010 at 22:55:23 from 65.100.217.150

wow I cant imagine running when it is that hot. I can barely handle 60-70 degrees. nice job, be careful in that heat.

I would have died. I almost died in 80 degree sun this morning at 7:30 a.m. I thought I was overheating. You must have almost completely boiled into thin air.

From Burt on Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 02:33:03 from 68.225.214.248

Yeah it was dang hot, but you just have to slow it down some. That's what Bonnie taught me.

From SlowJoe on Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 08:49:47 from 184.79.24.255

Wow, I can't even sit in a chair for an hour in 100-degree heat. Very impressive!

From runningafterbabies on Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 09:43:56 from 67.177.9.74

I will never complain about 80 degree heat again...

From Chad on Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 13:58:16 from 168.177.153.171

I don't know how much pavement you ran on. I hate feeling the hot asphalt burn through your shoes into the bottom of your feet. Nasty! That's dedication. I'd rather run at 10 degrees than 101.

From Brent on Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 22:28:34 from 66.7.127.219

Burt, flying carp? Nice run, keep the HR not too high, with fluids, you will be ok. Hey, any unusual people yet on your running routes? What was the sweat factor, in gallons?

Brent - just a lady who was walking her dog, then started jogging with it. But I guess it couldn't take the heat because she picked it up and started walking with it.
