I've been trying to make my blog as boring as possible, but that's lame because there's some good stories to tell.    For example, yesterday I failed to tell about how when I was running by the elementary school I heard this announcement on the intercom, "Students please return to your classes immediately.  We are locking the school down."  Coincidence that I just happened to be running by at the same time?  Of course!  What's wrong with you people?  Also, I saw a turtle in the canal.  I love turtles more than I love ducks.  And last night was the third time I volunteered for the Third Thursday Adventure Run.  You know what that means?

Also I saw this car on the freeway yesterday.  I thought it was funny.

So today on my run I got to Val Vista and noticed a long line of cars at the stop light.  That never happens so I cast my eyes round about and beheld that a truck had dropped its load of wood siding, those big 8'x4' planks.  It must have slammed on its breaks and they all came sliding off the top of his truck's rack.  Bonus workout for me.  I got my lifting in for the day.  Also the old lady regular that I've been seeing on a regular basis, oh that's good writing, was running on the other side of the street today.  Weird.  But she did wave at me.  I shall call her orange shirt lady.

Somehow I'm not so sure it was JUST a coincidence they locked the school down as you were running past. Were you shirtless?

Congrats on the shoe certificate. Enjoy your reward.

You are such a good Samaritan!

From Burt on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 12:21:54 from 72.223.90.79

You ask if I would consider myself a hero? It's hard to say, but yes.

From Lily on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 16:04:39 from 67.199.178.210

Better get in and see shoedog today Brut

From Derunzo on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 17:57:43 from 98.229.131.173

Who doesn't love poop?

From Burt on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 18:07:25 from 206.19.214.144

Lily - I'm just hoping to be the Shoedog someday.

Derunzo Funzo - according to Freud, every child goes through the anal stage. This happens within the 1st and 2nd year of life when a child is consciously aware of bowel movements. This is when humans begin to develop feelings of shame. Now, a child that holds it in all the time will likely be a hoarder. Think about your children. Do any of them get really attached to "treasures" they find? They probably also wait until the last minute to go poop. Now think of any of your kids that like to throw stuff out the window in a moving vehicle. These are the ones that just let it go and poop their pants all the time. Does that answer your question?

Epic Burt, epic.

From Scott Ensign on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 18:49:10 from 67.40.104.217

gee Burt this is all very exciting. you are a good samaritan though. just heard macho man Randy Savage died. what a bummer. I liked that guy. that was the hey day of wrestling, before it became fake.

From Burt on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 18:54:01 from 206.19.214.144

Scott - Thanks. I bet you wish you were here instead of Zion.

Other Scott - I just heard that, too. What are they going to do about his grave? DIG IT???

Oh my, that was too soon.

From Scott Ensign on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 19:08:13 from 67.40.104.217

Burt, ooh yeah, I dig it!

Kind of brings back fond memories of the 80s doesn't it? the hulkster, Andre the giant, the undertaker, Ms Elizabeth.... what a good time!

From Bonnie on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 19:36:06 from 128.196.228.134

Cool on the turtle!! was it swimming?

Congrats on the shoes and the siding, did I ever tell you that you're my hero?

I like pee better.

From The Quiet Pirate on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 19:45:30 from 174.110.223.249

this blog gave me IBS.. what does that mean?

Nice of you to lift that nice trucker's wood for him.

fun little tid-bit: RAD used to love watching women's wrestling.

From Burt on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 19:49:26 from 206.19.214.144

Bonnie - this is my favorite comment from you ever! The turtle was not swimming. It had climbed a couple of inches out of the water and was just sunbathing on the side of the canal liner. If I could have reached it, I would have taken it away from its habitat. I know. I'm bad.

QP - Google it. No, Urban Dictionary it. I'm not going to comment on your second sentence. And RAD just moved up a notch in my book.

From The Quiet Pirate on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 20:16:39 from 174.110.223.249

Unfortunately, I know more about IBS than urban dictionary does. Definition #1, not #2.

Too many stories from a co-worker.

RAD probably has a secret wrestling identity no one knows about. Yet.

From JD on Fri, May 20, 2011 at 20:26:57 from 71.37.100.47

Thanks again Burt. Your blog always leaves me feeling enlightened, informed, and willing to just let it go.

From RAD on Sat, May 21, 2011 at 01:00:49 from 98.202.17.113

Now, I didn't give anyone permission to let THAT cat out of the bag. Besides, you know American Gladiators was THE best show EVER! Well, I did like a little Andre the Giant too, I couldn't watch those stupid cartoons Saturday mornings. Wrestling was all there was. In Elementary school the library had a non-fiction book on Andre that I would occasionally check out. But...enough about me :)

Burt, I don't think you could have a boring blog if you tried. I'm also giving you a nod of approval for those new shoes! Right on. It is like....RAD!

From DaleG on Sat, May 21, 2011 at 01:12:32 from 174.52.230.9

Burt, Burt, Burt. It appears that when you make your blog boring, more people leave comments than if it's entertaining like this entry. Interesting.

I agree with QP: Nice of you to lift that nice trucker's wood for him. (Insert Beavis and Butthead laugh here)

Hey, instead of sending me the P90X stuff, send me the shoe gift certificate. I could use a new pair of expensive shoes.

From Burt on Sat, May 21, 2011 at 01:25:20 from 72.223.90.79

JD - Don't bottle things up inside so much.

RAD - American Gladiators was cool, but I was a die hard wrestling fan. Not into as much as I used to be. The day the Miz headlines a Wrestlemania event is the day I no longer need to watch. Wrestlemania used to mean something. It was sacred.

Dale - You won't think that once you've tried the Results and Recovery Drink. I'll stick to the original plan.

From DaleG on Sat, May 21, 2011 at 01:43:24 from 174.52.230.9

Ok, Burt.

this has been quite an amazing experiment. my conclusion is that you are the most interesting person in the world. congratulations on completely failing at being boring.

what does freud say about fake yawning in awkward situations?

From april27 on Sat, May 21, 2011 at 22:09:59 from 99.188.251.180

Whew that was a whole lotta reading. But I enjoyed it. thanks for trying to be boring

From Burt on Sat, May 21, 2011 at 22:37:16 from 72.223.90.79

allie - First of all, thanks for making everyone think that I'm the cause of your most recent injury. Now, on to your question. Freud taught that the ego has many ways of battling the adverse unconscious thoughts and desires we carry around with us. These are called defense mechanisms. One such defense mechanism is repression. This is the active effort by the ego to push threatening material out of consciousness. Fake yawning in awkward situations would fall neatly into that category. Another defense mechanism is projection. This is when we attribute an unconscious impulse to someone else. For example, a person could say he/she is concerned that others may judge them harshly for having too many cliches in their writing and thus project the blame for this to another blogger, when, in fact, they really just love commas.

April - thanks for being the last to comment.
