I felt so good today.  I was going to average 8:15's again, but I was feeling really good.  Did I say that already?  I can't believe how fresh I felt on that last mile.  My goal for the 5k this Saturday is to average 7 min./miles.  That may be a stretch, but I'm going to go for it.  I hope the conditions Saturday are as good as they are today; overcast and 83.  Man, it's nice.

Nice run. I think you've got 7 minute miles in the bag! If you can run 7:56 for over 5 miles, and then shorten that to 3.1 miles and throw in race day adrenaline--yep you can do 7 minute miles!

From Burt on Wed, May 20, 2009 at 11:05:24 from 98.167.151.26

Thanks, April. That's exactly what I was thinking while I was running.

From Merri on Wed, May 20, 2009 at 11:17:10 from 207.88.76.69

burt mc-cucumber you can do the 5k in 7 min miles no prob! Just think of old lady regular and run to her with open arms.

I agree, you have it to do 7 min/miles. I smell a PR coming to you this saturday! =)

From RivertonPaul on Wed, May 20, 2009 at 11:50:35 from 67.42.27.114

Burt, warm up slowly before the 5k for a mile or 2 and you will set your PR. http://runningtimes.com/Article.aspx?ArticleID=12065

Oh Merri, you are quite contrary. Speaking of how your garden grows, yesterday when we buried Sugar, my 4 year-old Abby said, "This is just like planting a garden." I asked her what kind of seeds we're planting, puppy seeds?

Eric, I trust your sniffer.

Thanks for the article Paul. I'm going to have to try that.

RT and Merri - I just hope I don't get too carried away with my imagination.

From James W on Wed, May 20, 2009 at 14:29:04 from 12.151.72.1

If we get there early enough, we should be able to do a warmup over most of the course, which will come in handy as well. I will be hoping for nice weather as well, although I don't think I can hope for it to be as nice as it was last year (upper 50's/low 60's and partly cloudy).

From Camille on Wed, May 20, 2009 at 14:57:55 from 75.171.105.43

Good luck this weekend. You are going to be amazing!

From sam on Thu, May 21, 2009 at 07:44:54 from 78.32.130.9

Great training paces, Burt, take it easy now before your race and your legs will be just as fresh, you have so got that PR in the bag!

Looking forward to your blog on it, and photos :-)
