How sad is it that I can't push the pace anymore without thinking about how RAD wants to beat me all the time?

Monday I was running by this lady who noticed my Ragnar shirt and said, "This weekend!"  So today when I saw two other ladies out on their power walk I remembered that little encounter.  Then I thought about how my Ragnar shirt is blue and the shirt I was wearing today was white.  Then I remembered that I forgot to put my Body Glide on today.  (Yep, I splurged on some Body Glide about a month ago.)  So I looked to make sure I wasn't bleeding.  I was good.  I guess you could say that since I didn't have a break through, I had a break through in nipular strengthening.

Time - 43:34 (avg. pace 7:54)

Splits - 7:57, 7:40, 7:56, 7:59, 7:55, 4:08

Congratulations on the stronger nipples. Now you can shelve the body glide.

From Burt on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 14:29:38 from 206.19.214.144

Thanks Dale. You know, I've worked really hard for this to happen. I feel like I gave it 110%, and it's all paid off.

From SlowJoe on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 14:41:23 from 131.59.200.80

Next thing you know, your calloused nipples will "break through" your shirts and you'll need new shirts. It's a vicious cycle.

From ChrisM on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 15:09:46 from 86.31.27.81

nice job on nipping the problem in the bud

From Burt on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 15:18:27 from 206.19.214.144

Joe - I'm hoping to be able to cut glass with them.

Chris - You remind me of Barney Fife.

From Camille on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 16:06:25 from 71.223.65.111

I saw a man running "topless" in the Sedona marathon that had bandaids on his. I don't know why, considering he didn't have a shirt on...

From Burt on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 16:11:05 from 206.19.214.144

Probably just a modesty issue.

From Camille on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 16:16:24 from 71.223.65.111

you are right... because if those bandaids weren't there, I would have had to shielded my eyes. The truth is, I ended up staring because I was trying to figure out what was *wrong* with his chest. ha ha!

From auntieem on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 17:09:12 from 98.247.176.184

I think doing your shorter runs without the body glide is a great idea! You'll toughen up and never need the stuff. I don't know why guys don't just wear "man bras" or something.

From Squirrel on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 17:18:06 from 209.175.175.238

You should do stand up comedy!!!

From Burt on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 19:12:29 from 206.19.214.144

Auntieem - I have been know to wear breast pads from time to time. Remember that Camille?

Squirrel - I couldn't do stand up. I have a team of writers that helps me come up with my material, like Jay Leno.

From Turtle on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 19:50:13 from 24.22.248.148

I had never heard of bloody nipples until just yesterday and to find it a topic on your blog is kind of funny. Sorry that you're having this problem, ouch. Sounds like you may have worked through it though. : )

From Burt on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 19:59:04 from 206.19.214.144

Turtle - I always like to welcome the new bloggers, but sometimes I feel dumb because I know they'll come check out my blog and see whatever crazy topic of conversation I've chosen for the day. I'm glad I didn't scare you off.

From JD on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 20:00:52 from 24.10.171.14

Be afraid Turtle...be very afraid...of Burt! Lol!

From allie on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 22:14:24 from 174.23.192.205

turtle - if the word "nipular" and talk about man bras and breast pads doesn't scare you off, you are in the right place.

we also occasionally talk about kicking dead bodies, puking, the government, little old ladies, oprah, multi-level marketing and derek detemple.

burt - kick it. stevie nicks.

From Burt on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 22:59:00 from 72.223.90.79

Derek Detemple!

From SlowJoe on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 23:00:09 from 184.79.24.255

Don't forget adult diapers. I'm way too classy to participate though.

From JD on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 23:02:07 from 24.10.171.14

BTW great pace today Burt!

From Burt on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 23:57:03 from 72.223.90.79

Joe - I did tell the story about my college buddy who got involved with the Mexican mob, put a man in an adult diaper, tortured him, then killed him, right?

JD - It's no 45 miles on the week already like you, but thanks.

From Squirrel on Thu, Feb 24, 2011 at 09:11:07 from 209.175.175.238

Geez and I was afraid to ask some new runner questions-guess I can just get over that!

From Burt on Thu, Feb 24, 2011 at 09:50:04 from 72.223.90.79

We're a family here Squirrel.

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Feb 24, 2011 at 14:10:06 from 66.239.250.209

FYI- Body Glide only works on the nips for about 15 miles. I found this out last week on Antelope Island. I had a small case of BNS and thought of you.

From RAD on Thu, Feb 24, 2011 at 15:19:26 from 67.172.229.125

Oh Burt, you're kickin' my trash on the pace so I've given up trying to compete with you. At least until I can kick your trash again :) You'll probably out pace and out mile me this weekend at Ragnar...maybe. Should I leave that hangin' for you to motivate you on those 3AM runs? :)

From Burt on Thu, Feb 24, 2011 at 15:25:41 from 206.19.214.144

RAD - Knowing you and you're work ethic, it won't be long.

I've got 21 miles to do for Ragnar. Legs 3 and 27 are all downhill, so it should be nice.

From SlowJoe on Thu, Feb 24, 2011 at 16:23:16 from 98.200.237.200

Burt, yes I remember that story very well. I'm still so glad you were able to escape the midget mud wrestling twins through the sewer pipe and then run to the Mexican drive-thru plastic surgery building for help.

From april27 on Fri, Feb 25, 2011 at 21:37:26 from 99.188.251.180

So glad you finally took my advice and bought the body glide.

Now if you know you have BNS why would you wear white shirts? Are you trying to show off your syndrome?
