This morning I wanted to get a fast mile in because there's another open mile coming up in a few weeks.  allie was going to come until she found out that it was an ENTIRE mile.  Then she wimped out.  My fast mile was my second fastest Garmin recorded mile since I started running again three and a half years ago.  The only thing is, it felt like I was struggling.  I don't know if that's good or bad.

Time - 23:51 (avg. pace 7:37)

Splits - 8:18, 6:15, 8:13, 1:06 for 0.14159 (8:03 pace)

Now sit back and wait for ChrisM to tell me I ran pi.

Day 66 P90X - Back and Biceps/Ab Ripper X - Another night of refereeing basketball.  I paced myself this time.  Then home to some serious Bringing It!  Yes, I'm trying to sound like an infomercial.

what in the world is pi? and how far is a mile? and how can you even run that far? i am so confused. i learn better with visuals -- like your post yesterday. it is clear to me now that nan likes strawberries. if you would have just typed out "nan likes strawberries" i would never have been able to comprehend that.

you ran pi!

i can recall in my head this much pi

very useful in emergency calculations

mmm pi

allie, pi is a mathematical constant whose value is the ratio of any cakes's circumference to its diameter

chris - thank you. my brain just exploded and ruined my laptop.

did you know that

exp^i = pi

where i = sqrt(-1)

and e is the exponential constant?

that equation gives me a nice warm feeling inside

I've never run pi, but having a math teacher for a mother I always celebrated pi day: March, 14th. You'd think we would've eaten pie to celebrate, but nope. She'd just give us some fun math games to play :) Oh...I love my mother!

Chris, school was TOO long ago. I'd probably get a nice warm feeling 12 years ago if I'd seen that equation, but now it only give me indigestion.

Nice work on that 6:15 pace Burt! If I tried to run that fast my legs would fall off.

From ChrisM on Wed, Sep 08, 2010 at 16:13:30 from 86.174.20.200

pi visualization alert!

and it is a gif too

makes perfect sense.

From Burt on Wed, Sep 08, 2010 at 16:35:27 from 206.19.214.144

You da man, Chris!

RAD - I had part of a cinammon roll for breakfast. That's kind of pieish.

From Burt on Wed, Sep 08, 2010 at 17:28:55 from 206.19.214.144

Oh RAD, whatever about your legs falling off. You just ran a 7:38 pace for a 10k after having a baby like two days ago. Well, the race was two days ago, so you must have had the baby three or four days ago. (I exaggerate sometimes.) Anyway, you could probably run a 6:15 sleeping and pushing a baby stroller.

From RAD on Wed, Sep 08, 2010 at 21:47:40 from 67.172.229.125

hmmm, sleeping and pushing the baby in a stroller all in a 6:15 mile - sounds like a challenge to me!
