I got an email from Blockbuster that they would allow me to switch three of my movies at the store instead of through the mail until the end of the year.  Well, that was in November.  Back when I was a rich man, I used to exchange them at the store all the time.  The nice thing was, as soon as I turned them in, they would send the next one in my on-line queue in the mail.  So, I thought that was what would happen this time.  But I guess they're not sending them until I return the ones to the store.  Is that stupid or what?  Anyway, I went to two different stores to get movies.  So this morning I decided to throw one in a WalMart bag and run to the closest one.  It was 5.6 miles away.  Once the sun came out, I was able to take some short cuts.

Time - 1:35:38 (avg. pace 8:54)

Splits - 8:39, 9:07, 8:50, 8:46, 8:53, 8:54, 8:58, 9:01, 8:52, 9:07, 6:32 for 0.74 (8:49 pace)

By the way, I was in allie's neck of the woods the other day.  Luckily I was able to snap this picture of her as she came zooming by.

Way to multitask Burt. I don't have time to watch 3 movies in a year, let alone in a month.

Hey Burt there is a *free* yes *free* film you can watch on the internet through google videos (it is so old that is why it is free)

It it called Plan 9 from outer space, WOW if this isn't the best film you have ever seen! A gripping tale of attack by aliens from Outer Space. I couldn't sleep for a week afterwards, it was so scary

LOL at the Pic!

From ChrisM on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 13:09:14 from 86.136.144.100

To save money on renting DVDs, I bought the entire series of the X files on DVD and I continuously keep working my way through all of the episodes, what a financial saving!

Way to run on errands. I feel so pleased with myself on the rare occasion that I do something like that.

Looks like you've been playing Fun with Photoshop.

Nice 10 miles Burt! I love the picture of Allie, you really captured the moment!

From Nan Kennard on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 15:04:00 from 174.51.250.151

Hahaha. Great pic. I know she likes to run in shorts in the snow but I had no idea she could hurdle mountains! Sweet.

From Burt on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 15:09:31 from 12.231.112.98

Rhett - I couldn't live without movies. I have to stay up on pop culture so I can win Trivial Pursuit all the time.

Nevels - she calls them mounds.

Sam - we've got that now, too. It's called Red Box.

Chris - Plan 9? I'm on it.

Carolyn - There's a long story to it. Nobody else listen. Okay, one of my daughters has a report due today. It was on Christmas in Wales. You know what that means. That means mommy and daddy get to do it for her. I helped a little, but mostly mommy was up all night putting the poster board together, typing the report, putting it in the folder, sewing the typical Welsh Christmas outfit, making the taffy, etc. She hardly got any sleep. So I got up early and got my two oldest up early in the hopes that they could get themselves ready. Around mile 3 I called my wife to make sure they were on task. Then I meant to call 20 minutes later, but I was getting so close to Blockbuster that I forgot. So I got there and called and my son hadn't left yet. I told her to get him out the door right now and have him run. So I wasn't sure if he made it or not until I got home. But I was going to be upset if he didn't because the plan was to run the one movie to the one store and take the other two movies to the other store on the way to work. If I had to drive him to school, then it would be out of my way. So, he did make it on time, but my oldest daughter didn't. GRRRR!!! I had to take her to school and now I have to drop the movies off after work. Throws my whole day out of whack.

April - allie can't take a bad picture.

From Burt on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 15:10:55 from 12.231.112.98

Nan - Looks like there's a lot you don't know about her. And don't worry. One of these days I'll snap a picture of you.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 15:23:02 from 198.241.217.15

Ugh. I hate parent homework projects. And my mornings revolve around getting kids to school. Before I left on my run this morning, I set the alarm clock in my son's room for 6:30 so he would get up on time to get to school because I knew I would be back from my run in time to wake him up. When I got home at 7:00, he was still asleep and the alarm had been beeping for a half an hour. His brother was up, but did the brother wake him up? Of course not. So the sleeper got up and took a shower and was late to school. He still had to walk to school because it's faster to walk to that school than to drive to it. Really.

That cracks me up Burt, Allie rocks!

I have said it before, and I will say it again, your wife is a saint. And, you are a nice guy.

From Nan Kennard on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 15:37:27 from 174.51.250.151

Oh man, that was a long story. We just use Netflix. That way we don't even have the options of stores and the shipping is one day turn-around anyway.

From TBarlow on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 16:00:23 from 216.194.124.36

What a great wife you have!

From Burt on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 16:08:20 from 12.231.112.98

Bonnie - allie's like wonder woman.

Nan - You weren't supposed to read that. LOL (not really LOLing). My friend is trying to convince me to convert to Netflix, but I got to stay loyal.

Toby - Yep. She's the best. Much better than yours. JK. That's how rumors get started.

From Michelle on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 16:45:35 from 97.122.167.7

I have to weigh in that we also use netflix and I love it. There are some movies and shows you can stream online so if you have movie turn around time and you want to watch something you still can. I wouldn't stay loyal, switch to netflix.

From beef on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 16:46:34 from 72.44.96.196

People already beat me on the running errands pun...

I watch my roommates netflix

From Burt on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 16:55:30 from 12.231.112.98

Michelle - I think Blockbuster is going to start that, too. The tend to copy everything Netflix does.

beef - You've got the right idea. Just watch the movies that someone else pays for. I like it.

From Kelli on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 21:22:04 from 71.219.95.151

Your computer and photoshopping skills never cease to amaze me. What would we do without your for entertainment???

From Burt on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 22:43:29 from 98.177.216.165

Kelli - I'm not here to entertain and I am not a role model.

From Bonnie on Wed, Dec 16, 2009 at 23:00:55 from 64.119.33.134

hmmm. well you got one of those right, Burt.

From Kory on Thu, Dec 17, 2009 at 00:54:51 from 24.116.159.75

Great picture and what a great way to return movies. I wish we could rent a movie from Hollywood or Blockbuster Video and have them stream the movie to the computer. Then watch the movie without getting a DVD. Maybe a wave of the future for movie rentals.
