I didn't run yesterday because my right foot was hurting.  It felt better today.  I wanted to get a long run in, but I got up way late.  I did my crazy attempt at mile intervals instead.  Oh, before that I did my 50 sit-ups, 10 push-ups, 2 sets of planks for as long as I could, some side planks (thanks Coach Cara), and I almost did a full pull-up.  Woo-hoo!

Time - 44:56 (8:03 avg. pace)

Splits -

8:25 - warm up

6:56 - 5:49 best

8:53 - rest

7:27 - 6:31 best

8:58 -rest

4:18 for 0.58 - 7:23 pace - 6:09 best

(I just saw on the Most Recent Entries board Rhett, Kerry, Burt.  Three people who live or have lived in Mohave County.)

Awesome repeats Burt!

From Metcalf Running on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 11:07:05 from 207.225.192.66

Nice speed!! Looks like you had a good run!

From auntieem on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 11:14:22 from 24.17.177.218

Nice miles, Burt! Some people think that ANY attempt at intervals is crazy. You had some speed today.

From Eric Day on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 11:36:29 from 200.77.38.54

6:56? Speedy Burt....

From Burt on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 11:39:19 from 206.19.214.144

Thanks guys. It felt pretty good. Yes, I got to work an hour and 15 minutes late, but it was worth it. 6:56 baby! Hopefull some day I'll be able to say 5:56.

From Burt on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 11:39:45 from 206.19.214.144

hopefully, I mean.

From Steve Piccolo on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 11:53:26 from 66.60.123.141

Way to get under 7!

When's your next race?

From Burt on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 12:02:46 from 206.19.214.144

Well, Steve, it was going to be surprise, but since you ask...I'm doing a 10k on the 30th. My wife just signed me up for it yesterday. Actually she accidently signed me up for the half marathon, but we emailed the race director, and they are going to refund us the money. (I kind of feel bad for that because it's a charity run, but I really wanted to do the 10k.) I can do a half marathon, but I'm looking to crush my 10k PR. That's the plan anyway.

From vinh on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 14:01:25 from 75.77.22.187

Nice miles Burt! If you are going to run a 10k, I'd start doing more of these workouts so you can smash your 10k time. What are you shooting for? sub 45?

From Burt on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 14:31:32 from 206.19.214.144

Umm...yeah Vinh. How did you know? Get my message from Athlinks?

From Rhett on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 14:36:50 from 216.67.211.75

Very nice run Burt. What's up with your foot? Hopefully nothing major.

From argentinerocket on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 14:38:11 from 98.233.4.198

Feliz Ano Nuevo Burt!!! I just read your marathon report - sounded pretty painful, kudos for not giving up! I love your new photo, you're hiding your pain pretty well!

So what else is new with everyone? You have to keep me up to date so I don't have to read everyone else's blog!

From Burt on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 14:42:43 from 206.19.214.144

Rhett - sometimes it hurts on top. It's okay today though. Maybe tiny stress fractures that heal up quick because I drink milk. It does a body good.

Lucia - you are in luck. It just so happens that I've been in the habit of highlighting excerpts from other bloggers on my blog. You're best bet is to set the view to Month View and scroll back on my blog and look for the entries with pictures.

From vinh on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 14:50:31 from 75.77.22.187

Burt, I haven't been on Athlinks. It was just a guess haha. I'm sure you can do it. Just get in some good speed work till then.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Fri, Jan 15, 2010 at 16:37:51 from 24.19.93.139

You're going to crush your 10k PR on the 30th. Looking forward to the race report.

From baldnspicy on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 00:34:58 from 72.95.175.57

Darn wedding on the 23rd! I was going to challenge you to the Fit City Scottsdale 5k when I was visiting town next weekend. It would have been my honor to have my butt kicked by you. :-)

From Rhett on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 11:24:43 from 216.67.211.75

Burt, the top of my right foot has been hurting a bit lately, but it doesn't bother me when I run. I've never had this before. As you suggest, I sure hope it isn't a stress fracture.

From Burt on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 13:24:39 from 206.19.214.144

How long you going to be around for Wes? I'm not afraid to meet people from the internet. Just ask Rhett.

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 13:27:59 from 90.201.147.160

Burt have you deleted my message ????

From Burt on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 13:33:05 from 206.19.214.144

What message? I haven't deleted anyone's message. If you said something inappropriate, maybe Big Brother did.

From baldnspicy on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 13:38:20 from 72.95.175.57

I get in on Thursday around Noon and leave Sunday 8am. Thursday and Friday look pretty open, but Saturday isn't quite as open. I'll still get my runs in even if it's late at night. I'll send you my contact info via email. It would be fun to meet you and hit the roads. I'll do my best to keep up! My brother lives not too far from Camelback so I may make it a point to hike/run(??) up it. I hiked it twice when I was down there on my mission from '90-92. I'm very excited to get back down there. I love AZ!

From Burt on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 13:40:50 from 206.19.214.144

Cool. I've never hiked it, but I have looked at it.

From Camille on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 13:55:35 from 162.135.0.12

great job Burt! You rock!

From Burt on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 14:00:09 from 206.19.214.144

Hey Camille. There's an open mile at SCC Tues. at 6:30pm. You should do it...

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 14:00:15 from 90.201.147.160

Ha ha Burt it wasnt innopropiate (like my spelling lOL) it was something like that but also about Freddie Mercury nothing rude enough to delete me thinks not!

but hey British Humor is different to yours ???

From Camille on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 14:03:39 from 162.135.0.12

Burt, first: What is an open mile? second: Noelle has RSV. We (Noelle and I) are at the hospital. I know that we will be here at least one more night, but have no idea if we will be here longer than that. I'm doubting I'll be running anything Tuesday night.

Third: keep thinking of me when you do hear of things like that because eventually I *will* be running again!

From Burt on Sat, Jan 16, 2010 at 14:10:01 from 206.19.214.144

1. An open mile is just a mile race open to the public. No entry fee. Just come out and race people to see how you do.

2. So sorry about Noelle. I just read your blog.

3. I think about you every day. (not really.)
