Day 84 P90X - X Stretch - I'm thinking I strained my hamstring again doing the mile this last week.  I felt a twinge today.  I'm going to keep running, but not as hard.

I decided to run my 5.5 loop backwards today so that I wouldn't have to bother with the kids going to school and all the cross walk guards.  It wasn't until I was about 3 miles in that I realized running it backwards would cut almost a mile off.

Time - 39:10 (avg. pace 8:31)

Splits - 8:30, 8:24, 8:36, 8:36, 5:05 for 0.60 (8:32 pace)

Day 85 P90X - Yoga X - Crane, royal dancer, tree, half moon, warrior 1, 2, and 3, yoga belly 7, bridge, crescent pose.  No wonder I used to struggle with this one.

Day 86 P90X - Core Synergistics - I used little dumb bells in lieu of the resistance bands that I usually use.  A little muscle confusion, as they say.  This entry is not meant to be funny, just like my last one.

Day 87 P90X - Kenpo X - This is a good cardio workout.  I refereed for the last games of the season for the young men.  That was a good cardio workout, too.  It's funny how some people really get mad at the refs.  I think I used to be like that, too.

Good luck to everyone running the St. George Marathon tomorrow.  You marathon runners are awesome.

I felt pretty good this morning, like I was on cruise control.  I ran forward this morning.  There's a canal that cuts through the city block at about a 70° angle.  I saw a guy turn around and head back along the canal.  I wondered if I could get to where it met the street again before he did.  Let's see.  The sine of a 70° angle is 0.9397.  The cosine of a 70° angle is 0.3402.  This means I'm running 28.17% more distance than him.  Do not check my math, AZDM.

I beat him.

Time - 43:30 (avg. pace 8:01)

Splits - 8:06, 7:49, 7:53, 8:15, 8:02, 3:26 for 0.43 (8:00 pace)

Day 90 P90X - Yoga X - Let me start off this entry by saying it was not my intention to finish my P90X routine on the same day as the St. George Marathon or General Conference.  I just heard a talk from Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf about pride which has really caused me to reflect on this entire experience.  There is good pride and there is bad pride.  Bad pride is when you say, "Look at what I just did", which translates into, "I'm better than you."  I can safely say that everyone who did the St. George Marathon is better than I am.  No issues there.  But why then did I seemingly boast my progress every day on the Fast Running Blog and Facebook?  Why did I bother taking 30, 60, and 90 day progress pictures if not too show them off?  Why did I let my wife rip sticky wax strips off my chest and back in an effort to look more appealing?

For the most part I think I can say that it was not because of the bad kind of pride.  Part of me has enjoyed the positive feedback I've received from you all.  But I'm no better than anyone else.  I'm just a guy with a guitar singing his heart out.

I've been running now for almost 4 years.  I've made significant improvements the first couple of years, but I hit a plateau especially with my weight.  I knew I needed to start working other muscles in my body besides those that were being worked out by running alone.  I had a handful of friends that were doing P90X.  At first I thought it would be too extreme for me.  But one friend, 1miletogo, reassured me that I could do it.  He even talked me into joining the Beachbody Team as a way to earn extra money and help other people reach their fitness goals.  This is the main reason for the pictures.  I needed to show that an average joe could make huge improvements over a 90 day period.

I do have to say that I am proud of myself.  I am proud that I set a goal to accomplish the P90X workouts in 90 days, that I stuck with it, and that I finished without missing a day.  I think that's okay to be proud of.  What do you think?  And I want to thank everyone for the support and encouragement throughout this journey.  The last thing I want to say is that anyone can do it.  It is tough, but not impossible.  And it works.  So, with that, I will now unveil the 90 day pictures.  You've been warned.
