Yesterday I woke up and my left heel was hurting.  Then it hurt all day whenever I would walk on it.  I need new work shoes.  The outsides of my heels are so worn down and it could be affecting my legs.  Negatively.

Try wearing heels for a couple of days in a row.....or just wearing a really high pair all day. No sympathy here! :)

From Burt on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 12:12:26 from 206.19.214.144

Got it. Wear heels and my feet will feel better. Thank you Amy! You're the best!

From RAD on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 14:19:14 from 76.27.16.189

Heel pain in the morning usually means plantar fasciitis. Been feeling the same lately...

But, I don't wear heels or need new work shoes.

From Burt on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 14:21:44 from 206.19.214.144

Don't you come using those swear words on my blog! I'll plant your fascitis right here!

From RAD on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 14:27:46 from 76.27.16.189

Sorry...I won't say it again. You might, but I won't :)

From flatlander on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 14:38:41 from 76.31.26.153

Sorry about that, hope it heals soon.

From Merri on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 14:40:46 from 160.7.252.148

I hope it "heels' fast too.

From Burt on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 14:49:06 from 206.19.214.144

Mark - It feels better now that I'm wearing my Mizuno Wave Inspire 4 White/Classic Blue/Raven shoes with 800 running miles on them.

Merri - thanks. I don't know what the heel is going on.

Burt! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

From Burt on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 15:32:45 from 206.19.214.144

No, I kiss your mother with that mouth. Boom baby! What now?

Baby that heel Burt. It would be a shame if you had to take a leave of absence on the blog due to injury.

From Burt on Fri, Aug 05, 2011 at 20:33:36 from 206.19.214.144

QP - That poor dog. What was the red liquid up by its head?

RAB - Maybe that's just what the blog needs, an extended leave of absence by yours truly.

From Squirrel on Sat, Aug 06, 2011 at 08:43:33 from 75.105.134.2

Sorry about the heels burt! Hey i need some expert advise. Is 5 weeks enough time between a half marathon and my first full? There is one i want to run but it is 2 weeks earlier than one that looks boring but i could run.

From Burt on Sat, Aug 06, 2011 at 15:19:55 from 72.223.91.148

Hi Squirrel. I'm going to say that it is enough time. But you have to ask yourself - am I more concerned about doing well in the half marathon or doing well in the marathon? Is my goal just to finish the marathon or run it fast? If you want to run the marathon fast, you should take it easy on the half marathon and use it as a training run. Most of the more experienced runners might tell you there's plenty of time to recover in 5 weeks, but that's because they're experienced runners. If you run the half marathon all out, you'll probably need 5 or 6 days to recover. Now you're down to 4 weeks before the full marathon and in that time you should have been continuing to build your miles.

Hope that helps.

allie - try some oil of olay.
