I went a little faster today than I have been lately.  There's been some construction along my route, so now there's more sidewalk.  In fact, I think there's only about a quarter mile stretch without sidewalk.  That had nothing to do with me running faster.

Considering I didn't run yesterday and I finished the day off with a bowl of ice cream, I'd say not too great. But now I'm fully ready to bust some blubber.

From Metcalf Running on Fri, Jul 31, 2009 at 17:03:37 from 207.225.192.66

At your speed you should be busting that blubber like crazy!

How do you run that fast in that kind of heat???

Nice job!

From Merri on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 00:08:03 from 160.7.234.108

good job burt. do the constructions workers whistle at you like they do at Leandra when she runs in construction zones?

From Burt on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 11:19:35 from 98.167.151.26

I've never gotten any whistles, but I know they're watching. So I wiggle my butt at them. There's also about 40 Mexican day laborers that hang out at the Circle K waiting and hoping that someone will come by with work for them. I know what they're thinking as I go by. "Ojala que tuviera un trozo de aquella carne tan masculina para desayuno con un plato de frijoles y pico de gallo."

From Brent on Sun, Aug 02, 2009 at 22:07:07 from 204.113.19.55

Burt, if you had to wiggle your butt for the construction workers, the praire dogs or the old lady, what would be your favorite? It seems you decision should be based upon the number praire dogs or construction workers, more butt wiggles to burn more calories. Anyway to shed those pounds.

Pretty fast splits for so hot out! So if you add back the 30 seconds per mile that you lost for every five degrees over 75, thats really like 7ish kind of miles, right?

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:52:21 from 71.219.100.174

Hey, Burt. Nice run last week, whatcha been up to since?

From Burt on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 19:15:58 from 68.76.197.194

Brent - Never wiggle your butt when you're prairie doggin' it.

Em - I was running in the low 7's for my shorter runs before this heat came along. Hopefully when it cools down I'll be right back there.

Kelli - This last week has been uber-stressful. The property management company came out to inspect the house we rent and told us that we need to do a handful of things or else. So that's all I've been doing. We stayed up all night Friday and scrubbed tile grout. Then Saturday I had to do all the landscaping and Rug Doctor the carpets. I am so sore all over. Hopefully I'll get a few miles tonight. (It's 109 right now.)

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 21:34:57 from 71.219.100.174

I think all of that cleaning counts as a workout---especially scrubbing the tile grout!!!

Skip today, that is just too hot (unless you have a treadmill)!
