I was not about to run 36 miles today.  Can anyone think of why that thought would even go through my mind?  But I did run 3.6 miles with a fast one thrown in the middle.  I saw RUN2DAY backing out of his driveway only he wasn't driving his RUN2DAY car.  He was driving his LONGRUN car.  I waved at him when he passed me and he honked really loud twice.  I'm pretty sure he woke everyone in the neighborhood up.

Time - 27:53 (avg. pace 7:45)

Splits - 7:45, 6:58, 8:14, 4:58 for 0.60 (8:17 pace)

I'm guessing you omitted the decimal the first time you typed in 3.6. You had some pretty speedy splits this morning.

From Burt on Thu, Dec 03, 2009 at 15:49:13 from 12.231.112.98

Good guess Carolyn, but wrong. The last mile didn't feel speedy coming off the 6:58, but it's not too bad, is it?

From Nevels on Thu, Dec 03, 2009 at 15:59:55 from 131.204.15.93

personally, i can't think of any good reason to run 36 miles, which is what makes it fun...

From Burt on Thu, Dec 03, 2009 at 16:06:19 from 12.231.112.98

Yeah, but John, you're crazy.

That's a nice tempo mile in the middle there . . .

From Burt on Thu, Dec 03, 2009 at 17:53:11 from 12.231.112.98

allie's the winner!

Thanks James. Just need to string a few more of those together to get a nice 5k or 10k.

From James W on Thu, Dec 03, 2009 at 19:47:57 from 70.190.199.29

Now I'm going to have to go back and see if I ran on my birthday too . . .

From Burt on Thu, Dec 03, 2009 at 19:52:31 from 12.231.112.98

I just went back to see if I ran last year. Nope. I remember being injured in December of last year. But I think it's because I fell down the stairs.

From Lyman on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 10:30:06 from 170.135.241.46

Happy Birthday! My fastest marathon and Olympic distance triathlon was when I was 36. Fine age to accomplish great athletic feats.

You can get the 32.4 remaining miles in during your afternoon run. No worries.

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 18:46:41 from 71.219.71.229

Oh, crap. I missed your birthday. I suck. The brownies are in the mail.

I am glad to see that you are older than me, though!

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 18:46:57 from 71.219.71.229

OH, and nice speedy run on your birthday, BURT!!!!

From Burt on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 19:04:55 from 12.231.112.98

Hahaha Kelli! That's exactly what Leandra said. The funny thing is, I'm going to laugh it off, and a week from now I'll actually get a package in the mail and I'll be like, "I'll be darned. She really sent them." LOL!

From Burt on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 19:06:09 from 12.231.112.98

Oh, and thank you flatlander, Josse, Rhett, and Rattletrap. Josse, you're just that cool.

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 19:10:26 from 71.219.71.229

I did mail you cookies once....but I do not think brownies would stay good. in fact, i am not even sure the cookies stayed good!

From Burt on Fri, Dec 04, 2009 at 19:13:52 from 12.231.112.98

The cookies were delicious. But hey, it's the thought that counts.
