Another run with Glen the Gazelle up Usery Pass.  I'm feeling better about my six mile climb up 1283 feet that I have to do two weeks from now in the Vegas Ragnar.  I brought my Garmin this time.  Glen was glad.  I told him we had to run the first mile together to see how Garmin compared to his smart phone app. We did run the first mile together, but after that he gazelled off.  There weren't nearly as many cyclists this time.  I counted 8 that came zooming by me as I went up and 37 that crawled by me as I went down.  At one point Glen stopped, picked something up, and came running back to me.  It was a set of boat keys.  Someone's not going to be happy when they get to the lake only to find they lost their keys.  The tag on them said Abilene Texas.  So, Joe, if you're missing boat keys, I know where to find them.

Time - 1:25:19 (avg. pace 9:14)

Splits - 9:12, 10:32, 10:19, 9:31, 9:32, 9:32, 8:30, 8:12, 8:51, 1:10

Just send them here, I'll see that Joe gets them. What were your temps today, getting better I hope?

Thanks for picking those up, I own some oceanfront property down there and must have dropped my boat keys.

9 miles ...yeehoo! That has got to feel good. You will do great in Ragnar! How fun...jealous!

From ACorn on Sat, Oct 08, 2011 at 17:48:06 from 24.2.76.146

Nice miles! How did the Garmin compare to the smart phone? Just curious.

From Burt on Sat, Oct 08, 2011 at 17:57:58 from 72.223.91.148

Flat - When I stepped outside at 5:30AM it was 50.

Joe - I sent your keys to Mark. Can I buy some of that property off you?

Amy - Are you able to run yet? I hope so.

ACorn - It seemed to be pretty close. But Glen ended up running way more than me. He kept running around in circles so he wouldn't get too far ahead of me.

No! No running.....I'm melting! :(

From Steam8 on Sat, Oct 08, 2011 at 18:31:10 from 166.70.55.77

Don't you live in Arizona? Why would someone from Abilene be boating in your hood?

From Burt on Sat, Oct 08, 2011 at 18:37:45 from 72.223.91.148

We don't have alligators in our waters like they do in Texas.

Ahahaa! Burt!

Fishy boat.

From Tara on Sun, Oct 09, 2011 at 17:29:39 from 216.201.66.237

Yeah, loosing your keys would not be good. Good luck with the Ragnar! You'll do great!

From Burt on Sun, Oct 09, 2011 at 21:06:52 from 72.223.91.148

Tara - I lost my keys at Ragnar once. Luckily I found them by the side of the road in the grass.

From Rhett on Mon, Oct 10, 2011 at 17:40:35 from 216.67.217.157

Sounds like a good run. You hit some good paces there at the end.

From Burt on Mon, Oct 10, 2011 at 17:48:03 from 68.14.209.26

Thanks Rhett. The paces at the end were downhill, and they weren't great. I looked back to earlier this year when I hit the last mile in 6:52 instead of 8:51. I've lost a lot of fitness over the summer. And I'm not talking about Tara Summers.
