Today is my anniversary.  13 years of wedded bliss.  Just bliss.  We went out Saturday night.  We had gift cards to Black Angus and free movie tickets.  So it was a great cheap date.  My favorite kind.  We caught the 10:40 showing of Star Trek.  There were only 12 people in the room.  One lady by herself was for sure a Trekky, and I would guess she'd already seen the movie at least a dozen times.  She made sure the other 11 of us heard her laugh as soon as any joke was cracked.

Since my mileage has been quite pathetic the last two weeks, I decided to get some double digit action going today.  I saw a new guy running today.  He looked like he was going about the same speed I was, but I was OK with that because I wasn't trying to push it.  Plus, since I did an extra loop, I saw him again and figured he wasn't running as far as I was either.  I decided to slap him five, and he reciprocated.  I saw the old lady regular and the double stroller lady, too.  I actually saw her twice as I did my second loop.  Some day I'll have to ask her how far she runs.  I doubt she'll answer me.

Time -  1:24:22 (8:26 avg. pace)

My splits were pretty consistent.  I was going for an 8:30 pace.  Miles 8 and 9 had bumped up in the 8:40's, so I thought I needed to push the last mile.  I ended up doing it in 8:16.  My knee feels fine.

Thanks Jason. It's almost as good as 2 miles bare foot. I don't know if I could do that.

Mr. Monte - I saw the video of you in Tucson. You are hard core.

Burt, happy anniversary. Have those 13 years passed like 5 minutes ..... under water? Looks like you had fun.

And 10 miles, good job; at excellent pace, even better job! I'm sure you could do a sub 1:45 in a HM...

Happy Anniversary! Good run. Love your posts.

Based on your posts it's easy to see your wife has stayed with you for your humor and not your money.

Happy Anniversary!!

Great miles today!! Way to get some double digits.

From Burt on Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 23:33:28 from 98.167.151.26

Thanks for the happy anniversary wishes everyone. Not sure why my wife has put up with me all these years. :)

SRR - I might do a 4 mile race on the 4th of July. As for a marathon, I'm seriously considering doing one in Mesquite NV in Nov. It looks like a killer though. The cool thing is that you run through UT, AZ, and NV.

Rhett - I think I surprised the guy with high five. I'll name him 'Old hippie and he don't know what to do should he hang on to the old should he grab on to the new.' Too long?

SRR - did you know Rhett is a HPGL? We just need a secretary now.

From argentinerocket on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 15:33:55 from 74.9.147.114

Happy anniversary! I'm not sure how your wife puts up with you either :)

I'm quite familiar with the Mesquite, NV area from my days in Cedar City. I think it should be pretty nice... I assume it's during the winter? Otherwise the weather can be dreadful...

If someone reciprocated the high five I'm sure the lady would talk to you!

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 15:50:32 from 71.219.76.64

Nothing in life beats a free date, not even a 5 minute mile.

I am so not a Trekky, but I really liked that movie.

From Burt on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 16:00:49 from 68.76.197.194

The thing is Lucia, she always is running in the opposite direction I am. For me to talk to her, I would have to turn around and run with her. That's way wierder than slapping a stranger high five.

Kelli - it was off your recommendation that I watched it. My wife liked it, so good job. It was either that or Land of the Lost, which didn't get good reviews. I went to www.kids-in-mind.com and saw a quote from the movie something like this, "My love for you is 10 times the love Jesus had for mankind on the cross." That's more sacreligious than when the prayed to baby Jesus in Talladega Nights.

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 16:12:48 from 71.219.76.64

We debated on Land of the Lost this weekend, but I really do not think Will Ferrell is funny at all. So we went to see UP instead! Very good, I cried twice.

I actually think I want to see Satr Trek again, it has been the only good grown up movie in a while. And you know me, trying to avoid the R temptation!

From Merri on Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 14:31:23 from 207.88.76.69

Nothing gets better than a cheap date, trekkies & running 10 miles. nicely done nicely done
