FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 13 YEARS I AM UNDER 200 LBS!!!!

My original plan was to run 3 miles yesterday and 5.6 today, but I didn't go yesterday.  So I decided to do it all today, when to my great joy, I discovered that it was raining.  Raining in Arizona?  What is this, bizzaro world?  I thought about it for a minute.  "I am going to get soaked anyway from sweating.  What's the difference?  This should be an adventure."  So off I went.  I prayed that my Garmin was waterproof.  Then I thought, "I sweat on my Garmin, also."

Splits:

1 mile - 8:11 - raining steady

2 mile - 8:11 - still raining steady

3 mile - 8:20 - rain dies down to a drizzle

4 mile - 8:41 - drizzle

5 mile - 8:52 - rain picks back up

6 mile - 8:48 - raining steady

7 mile - 8:56 - stops raining all together (My Garmin was still set to alert me at 7:40 intervals.  So at this point my Garmin lapped me.)

8 mile - 8:58

0.60 mile - 5:21 (8:57 avg.)

Overall average - 8:38

Weight: 197.00

How to do get the garmin to give you splits every mile?

From azdesertmonsoon on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 10:49:02

Congratulations. Hopefully, I can follow your example!

From Burt on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 10:50:47

I can't remember. I'll have to play with it tonight to figure it out.

From marion on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 14:24:46

WAY TO GO!!! YOU ARE THE MAN! I was thrilled to break 200! It is a screaming big deal! I like your rain adventure. Running is so fun that way! ;)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Do you have a prize for yourself?

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 14:42:54

YEAH on the weight! Great job!!!! It is falling off of you and attacking me, so you can have it back!

Okay, since you know how good I am with math, explain the significance of the 5.6?!?

From Burt on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 14:43:33

I hadn't even thought about it. Maybe a nice big jelly donut or 32 oz. shake from McDonald's...

From Burt on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 14:46:39

It's just that one of the loops I run regularly is appr. 5.6 miles. The other is appr. 3 miles.

Wow! That is awesome! I don't know how tall you are but I wouldn't have guessed you weighed that anyway. CONGRATULATIONS!

From Kelli on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 15:01:07

Oh, I thought it was some kind of a mathematical thing I was missing. I miss a lot.

Shake???? Sounds good to me. I will meet you there in 30 minutes.

Great job with the weight! That is awesome and you should be so proud of yourself!

From Lucia on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 15:25:41

Woooohoooo! You go chicken legs! Nice work on the weight, and nice splits speedy!

From Burt on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 15:48:18

Thanks everyone. I think the weight loss has been the single most reason why my times have been coming down so much lately. 'Preciate the support.

From sam DEAN-HOWARD on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 15:54:10

Well done CONGRATULATIONS BURT that is so great, another achievement hey, WELL DONE< :-)

From James W on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 17:29:27

Congrats, Burt! I noticed that weight loss played a significant role in my times coming down. Believe it or not, 2 years ago, I weighed as much as 192 (and I am only 5'10" - you have about 3-4 inches on me). The more my weight came down, the farther and faster I was able to run. Keep up the good work!

From Camille on Tue, Feb 17, 2009 at 21:32:17

YOOO HOOOO!!!! You totally rock Burt!

All the chicken fat is being replaced with chicken speed! Chicken power!
