I was supposed to run with Bruce RUN2DAY today, but I forgot to email him last night for obvious reasons.  I tried to call at quarter to nine hoping it wasn't too late.  After about 5 rings I just hung up.  I really wanted to push the pace but decided against it.  Instead I threw a 10k mile in the middle.  The problem was that I was really laboring to maintain that pace.  Truth be known, I was probably way faster and way slower.  I don't think it was a constant steady 7:14.  I started to wonder if I could do that for 6 miles on Saturday, but I think there was a reason for it.  I did P90X last night; Chest and Back/Ab Ripper X.  I did not hydrate well after the workout.  And I hardly ever have any water before I go out in the morning.  So I'm hoping it was just a feul and hydration problem.  I really want to maintain a 7:14-7:15 pace.  If I would have done that last year, I would have come in the top 10.

I found this picture of Walter with his grandparents.  Can't you ever be serious in a picture Walter?

Glad you are back at it and all seems well.

Chest & Back is a tough workout. I'm out for another week or 2 from doing any P90X. I strained my back last week doing Shoulders & Arms. Keep up the hard work.

Thanks Paul and 8kiddad. I'm going to have to skip a few days so I'm not too tired for my race this Saturday.

Yeah I was just thinking that you should take it easy this week with the p90 stuff, sounds like hard work Burt.... you will be able to do the 10k goal pace if the everything is right on the day i.e weather, fueling right etc.

oh or is it FEUL ha ha ha LOL gotcha :)

From Brent on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 20:05:23 from 204.113.19.55

Burt - hum - honest self study of training? Are you ready for 7:14s? No guts no glory? Mentally tough - go for it.

I just started p90x last week. It is seriously kicking my tail. What is your opinion of it? I like it, I just hope it is really going to help me, not hurt me like it has been the past week :)

From Burt on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 22:45:27 from 98.177.216.165

It is painful. I tweaked my back and I'm sure it's because of P90X. But I'm also getting ripped. LOL! What do I do???

From Burt on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 22:49:47 from 98.177.216.165

Brent - I ran a 7:17 avg. for the 4.2 mile Pat's Run last year. I have to believe that I'm faster now. Plus I know I can crank out a 6:30 mile. 44 seconds slower for 6.2 doesn't seem too unreasonable. Just hope my back holds out.

From RAD on Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 23:48:21 from 67.172.229.125

Good luck on your race this weekend. I'm with Brent, no guts no glory! Pace sounds reasonable, go for it!

Oh, and thanks for the entertainment with Walt's pic - I'm going to have to pass it on! :) -with due credit to you of course!

LOL LOL! Burt - you crack me up!! Great picture!! As for your little girl...so glad to hear she is better and home with you.

The P90X program is all about kicking your a..! Just make sure you take it easy enough so you don't fall on it!! It is certainly for the serious, but be careful. Nice workout by the way!!!

I couldn't even sit on the toilet after the plyo dvd... ouch...

From Burt on Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 16:40:50 from 206.19.214.144

MD - I know what you mean about the toilet sitting. Definitely more grunting than usual.

From Marathon Dreamer on Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 18:39:58 from 200.52.168.6

For me, it was more like grab hold of the toilet paper dispenser with one hand and brace yourself using the wall with the other....slowly descend....
