This morning Lady Liberty was actually a sweet old lady.  I decided not to give her a "good game."  Instead I gave her a high five for liberty.

Later I saw an empty plastic baggy.  Then I saw a packet of Sweet and Low.  I wondered if I went back and emptied the Sweet and Low into the baggy and left it on the sidewalk if I could get some junky to snort some artificial sweetener.

Next I saw a Mexican worker crusing around on top of a roof with a wheelbarrow.  I waved a friendly hello to him secretly hoped he would wave back, let go of the wheelbarrow, lose control of it, lose his balance, and fall off the roof.

Then I saw Lady Liberty again and said, "One more time" as I slapped her another high five.  I made her giggle like a school girl.  When I got home I was just in time to wait for the bus with Emily.  She loves getting on the bus and waving bye to me.

I saw someone dressed up as lady liberty yesterday, but it wasn't a cute old lady, it was some geeky teenage boy with earrings coming out of places that I don't think the french though earrings should come out of when they carved Lady Liberty for us.

Good run! That is great about waiting for the bus with Emily!

I just wanted to comment so I would feel loved as my inbox filled up all day with comment notifications. I hope you don't feel too used, Burt.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 13:02:32 from 206.19.214.144

Camille! So glad you commented today. I was going to ask how your run went with Bethany Saturday. Maybe you blogged about. I'll go check.

Kam - It's cool. You just have to promise to read all the comments and not just use them to get a bunch of emails. Then I would feel viloated.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 13:23:01 from 206.19.214.144

Camille - those Liberty Tax Service guys are everywhere. I've had various friends of Facebook post about them, too, including David Bond. Speaking of David Bond and Bethany, should I tell the story about the time you were telling Bethany the story of you and David and Falcon Hill?

From Merri on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 15:47:58 from 160.7.252.148

I like it when you giggle like a school girl burt.

From julieesplin on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 16:46:30 from 75.169.162.16

I usually send my boys out the door to run to the end of the cul-de-sac and around the corner by the church with a "I think you can make it" type comment as the bus is rounding the corner and coming down the street.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 16:51:02 from 206.19.214.144

Merri - that only happens when you tickle my feet.

Julie - If anything, that's good exercise for them.

I learn something new about you in every one of your posts. Now I know you are an anti-immigration extremist and a cagey drug dealer. I never knew that.

From april27 on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 20:47:45 from 99.188.251.180

You have waaay too much fun on runs. That is it...I'm waving at random people from now on!

From Burt on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 21:01:16 from 206.19.214.144

Joe - I'm an equal opportunists when it comes to people falling off roofs.

April - I think I have so much fun because it's actually kinda warm over here. No yaktrax for me!

From DaleG on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 22:13:47 from 152.216.3.5

You could have filmed your run and made a public service announcement that runners are people, too.

By the way, DonGardinero is no more. I will now be addressed as DaleG...Or just Dale, if you prefer.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 22:30:42 from 72.223.84.236

I thought that was you. Can I be your one and only friend again for a few days?

From Nan on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 22:33:45 from 98.245.117.176

My favorite part is the image of Emily climbing on the bus and waving bye bye. Cuteness.

From DaleG on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 23:17:03 from 173.126.202.86

OK Burt, you can be my one and only friend for a few days.

From Karen on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 23:25:08 from 69.171.160.10

Sick, and yet amusing...I actually work with illegal immigrants that snort coke and at times, dress like Lady Liberty. Small world...

From Burt on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 23:47:36 from 72.223.84.236

Nan - She had both arms waving today. It was cute.

Karen - I hope you good game them.

From Karen on Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 00:15:10 from 69.171.160.10

I think I'd get fired...I save that for my friends...

From Brent on Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 07:47:51 from 168.178.30.219

Burt, like the way you make a daily run a crazy adventure, next time, slap liberty on the butt as you go by and help senior push that load.

Not, really, never take my advice

Good consistent running, Stay Kool, B of bS Rools out

From Burt on Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 09:24:51 from 72.223.84.236

Brent - the other day when Liberty was a 20-yr old dude in sunglasses I tried to slap him on the butt, but I was running too fast and missed.

From Eric Day on Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 11:37:44 from 200.92.95.92

Do you have something against Mexicans?

From Burt on Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 11:48:02 from 72.223.84.236

No Eric. I'm all for Mexicans...

...all for them falling off roofs!
