I wanted a nice easy run today.  So I took Ginger.  She did really good.  I haven't taken her forever.  When I used to go with her I would try to train her by telling her left or right at the turns.  It seems like she was remembering the commands, but maybe she was just getting lucky.

Time - 24:13 (avg. pace 8:21)

Splits - 8:27, 8:22, 8:14

I was kind of letting her dictate the pace.  So much for easy.

Hey Burt, that's a nice picture of you. I didn't know you like bows. . .

From Burt on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 11:36:24 from 206.19.214.144

I love bows, but I hate glitter. Are you saying that I'm a little....nevermind...

From Rhett on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 12:53:17 from 74.41.249.102

So you were a Ginger guy? I always favored MaryAnne.

From Burt on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 12:54:21 from 206.19.214.144

MaryAnne comes with too much emotional baggage. She's too clingy.

My, what large *eyes* you have!

From anji on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 13:53:38 from 24.49.170.170

cutest dog ever........besides mine of coarse!!!

From Burt on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 16:26:58 from 206.19.214.144

James - enough with the "I'm a gay dog" jokes. I don't deserve this kind of shabby treatment.

Yes I do.

Anji - I was going to post the one of her and my baby back when they were both little babies, but I couldn't find it.

Hey, I was going with the little red riding hood reference there! Gotta admit, those big green pupils (prolly from the flash) look pretty spooky.

From Samantha Dean-Howard on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 18:05:48 from 90.195.99.110

He he but what large ears you have?

Oh yeah dogs do learn left and right, or gee and haw! I have a trained husky whom has raced sleds, with me on the sled, I dont bother with it now, but he knew his gee (left) from his haw (right) as the finnish would use these words oh and it isnt mush on its HIKE hike, and I am the musher or the person on the sled is the musher. When I take simba with me on runs I can still stear him with those words..... happy mushing then :)

Burt - who let the dog out, you can expect the alien big dogs to come a courting with the spaciee eyes. Check your grass for weird burned circles.

Nice pace, running with space dog will get you some PRs. By the way, we have had running dogs for several years, they are great if you can get them trained for running. We are training our puppy, she is up to two miles.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

From TBarlow on Wed, Jan 13, 2010 at 23:44:27 from 216.194.124.36

That's awesome Burt - I hope she protected you during your run :)

MaryAnne > Ginger

Running with my dog is like wrestling with a bull. It's a great workout, but a terrible run.

From vinh on Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 07:16:53 from 75.77.22.187

Nice run Burt! You should have your dog run with you during your races haha.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 10:04:43 from 71.219.89.82

Cute dog, glad she took you an a good run! Her trainer must be a genius. My dog never quite figured it out, it is harder than it looks.

From Burt on Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 11:03:28 from 206.19.214.144

Indeed I am a genius Kelli. Indeed I am.

I usually only take her when I want to run 3 miles. Once when I went 4 she started to slow down and run in front of me so I had to slow down.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 13:42:32 from 71.219.89.82

I know you are Burt, that is what I admire the most about you.

So my sister called me yesterday to make sure we were coming down to run Del Sol. WHAT??? She got a job this year so I did not even ask her to do it, turns out she was perfectly willing to take work off and watch my kids. BUMMER, but we will be there next year doing an Ultra I believe.

She also said they changed the course. Is it going to be better or worse?

From Burt on Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 13:56:20 from 206.19.214.144

They didn't change it too much. They added a couple of miles to it so now we end at Tempe Marketplace and we'll be able to see the teams come in on the jumbotron.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 14, 2010 at 13:57:35 from 71.219.89.82

That is cool! She thought that they changed where the race started, I guess she did not know what she was looking at.
