Total Distance
7.38

This morning I ran with Glen, Michael, and Corena from my Ragnar team.  Glen wanted to go 5.  I wanted to got 10.  Michael wanted to go 15.  We compromised and went 7.38.  We started at Freestone Park and ran down the trail to the Eastern Canal.  Then we ran along the canal for a while until at mile 4.6 where I stopped to take care of some business at the Riparian Preserve.  It was a good run even though my fingers aren't completely thawed out yet.

Time - 1:07:17 (avg. pace 9:07)

Splits - 9:42, 9:12, 9:04, 8:47, 8:59, 9:03, 9:06, 3:26 for 0.38 (8:57 pace)

Here's a Google map for allie so she can see how far Havasupai is from the Hualapai Mountains.  About 110 miles as the crow flies.

Havasupai is your old stomping ground, right? I went there as a Boy Scout and I still remember how beautiful that was. Does that tribe still live down there? I hope so.

Believe it or not I've never been to Havasupai. Or Tucson.

If you don't know what google is, you better google it.

From RAD on Sat, Jan 08, 2011 at 17:59:02 from 67.172.229.125

Nice run Burt! Hope your fingers thaw soon.

From Brent on Sat, Jan 08, 2011 at 22:56:13 from 66.7.127.219

Burt, what did the ghosts of Ragnar past show you? Your running very good this year, do not listen to those gobblins runners of doom.

From Burt on Sat, Jan 08, 2011 at 22:58:10 from 72.223.84.236

RAD - what would I do without fingers? I would have no social life!

Brent - Good will always win over evil. Thanks.

From allie on Sun, Jan 09, 2011 at 03:16:41 from 174.23.238.75

burt - your comment to RAD just made me laugh out loud like a little old lady.

thanks for the map. 110 miles isn't that far. get yourself to havasupai! you won't regret it.

i have never been to the great salt lake or zion NP. yeah...

From auntieem on Sun, Jan 09, 2011 at 13:56:04 from 98.247.176.184

I am an little old lady, and I laughed very hard as well. You ARE running very well Burt - when is Ragnar?

From The Quiet Pirate on Sun, Jan 09, 2011 at 18:25:52 from 71.77.158.102

If you lose your fingers, I'll get my pirate friends to make you 10 little hooks we can attach to your stubs.

Or maybe 9 hooks and one big q-tip for cleaning your nose & ears out with.

From april27 on Sun, Jan 09, 2011 at 19:27:40 from 99.188.251.180

I hope Michael still did 15!

From Burt on Sun, Jan 09, 2011 at 20:40:12 from 72.223.84.236

Toby - not my foot. My fingers!

allie - my comment about not ever having been to Tucson was made before I knew about the shootings. Just need to get that on public record.

Auntie - Ragnar is the last Friday and Saturday of February. Can't wait!

QP - Q-tip is a good idea. I am quite the nose picker.

April - I think he did. In fact, his wife Corena left with their station wagon so he had to run at least 3 miles home.

From SlowJoe on Mon, Jan 10, 2011 at 02:51:34 from 109.70.68.174

That 110 miles sounds like a good ultra race for you. Looking forward to the race report.

From Sammie Howard on Mon, Jan 10, 2011 at 16:19:17 from 86.185.186.219

Whoaa hooks instead of fingers now you wont be able to take care of any business ! during your run

I dont get it you should have gone 10 if it was between 15 and 5 really I just dont get it why half way come on you must have a stronger personality than this Burt you must !!!!

From Burt on Tue, Jan 11, 2011 at 01:39:44 from 72.223.84.236

Joe - Now you've got me curious what kind of obstacles I'd run into if I went in a straight line. I guess the I-40, the Grand Canyon, some rattlesnakes, mountains, cliffs, wash beds. Yeah, sounds like a great ultra.

Sam - My plan was to go back out and run the extra miles to get 30 for the week, but it just didn't happen :(
