These pictures are from last Saturday when I took my daughter running.  I'm shaving the beard off today.  Although it makes me look rather distinguished and quite handsome, it's pokey.

This morning I went running with three other Ragnar teammates of mine, two of which are fellow bloggers - James W and Camille.  It was a nice run.  We started out real easy for the first 4 miles, then we picked it up.  I ran with James most of the time.  This was the first time I met James.  I've talked to him before on the blog, and I have a picture of us standing next to each other at a race from before I knew him, but it was nice to finally "really" meet him.  He's a cool guy and has a lot of knowledge about running.  Camille and Jared were right behind us most of the way.  They would catch up to us at the stop lights.  Then with about a mile and  a half to go, we picked it up pretty good.  With half a mile to go James was about 10 feet ahead of me.  That's out of my audio range.  He said something that I imagine was, "Is it okay if I leave you in the dust now?"  I yelled, "Yeah!"  He finished pretty strong.  I didn't finish as strong as I would've liked.  I tend to do that when I run with other people.  Below are my splits.

Time: 54:57 (avg. pace 8:41)

Splits: 9:19, 9:12, 9:18, 8:42, 8:16, 7:40, 2:30 (7:43)

Temp: 50

I started my Garmin about a tenth of a mile after we started running.  According to James we did 6.42.  Mine said 6.32.

Weight: 0.00

Today was only stretching? No miles?

I take that beautiful woman is your wife...

(I'm sure she will like the comment, but your daughter won't). ;)

Pretty girl, cheers !

Oh, & great pictures!

There was some running. I made the entire blog entry and right before pushing Publish, I thought, "Should I copy to clipboard just in case?" Then I thought I would take my chances. All gone. So I've been saving as I go. You were just too fast on giving me a comment to see my running entry. :) Thanks.

I love the pictures. And I love the beard- let it grow! Manly men are the best!

Great Pictures! I don't think I'll recognize you Monday without the beard. LOL.

Thanks for the run today. It was awesome. I'm going to have to map out the distance Jared and I ran and compare it to what my nikeplus says. We didn't follow you along Elliot the whole way because we wanted to get off the pavement. I had fun "racing" Jared at the end. I'd like to think I won... but I think he probably could have left me when you and James did earlier on.

Rachel - Those guys are pretty funny, even if they do make fun of God's messengers with a blasphemous skit of the Bible in 1 minute.

Camille - You ran so well. I'm really impressed. Keep that up at Ragnar, and you will do great. Jared should be fine to do that 9.5 mile leg. What's three more miles? He did great.

Nice pics. I cannot grow a beard. Once I had entered contest for the month of Mar. March mustache madness. I had to draw one on in marker at the end. It was humiliating.

Cute kid. Looks like you guys have fun together.

Nice negative splits. I'm trying to get positive splits more popular, because that's what I'm currently capable of.

From Burt on Sun, Jan 18, 2009 at 13:32:07

Yeah, what's so great about negative splits?

From Camille on Sun, Jan 18, 2009 at 16:54:17

Burt - Thanks :o) That really does make me feel good to hear that you think I'm improving! Bethany and I talked on the phone yesterday and she and I are planning to run Usery's Pass on the first weekend of February. Let me know if you are game.

Adorable pics Burt! Nice job getting your daughter excited about running so early on. And how great is it to have good people to run with, eh?
