Two words to describe today's run: Yuh key!  I've narrowed down the possibilities for the yuckiness to three reasons.  1) Last night my wife made me a delicious reese's peanut butter shake.  So good.  But it was still around this morning.  2) I did not purge myself of the yumminess.  3) As soon as I opened my bedroom door this morning I was greeted to a houseful of greasy smoke.  My daughters decided to surprise everyone by cooking breakfast.  Apparently they didn't know that you don't need to cook bacon in oil.  The scent alone sent my cholesterol levels through the roof.  So.

Time - 23:09 (avg. pace 7:43)

Splits -

1 mile - 7:31 - trying to run through the lingering affects of the bacony lungs.  Focusing on shorter strides and faster turn-over rate.

2 mile - 7:41 - about half way into it I feel some pressure in my bowels.

3 mile - 7:57 - This mile is almost always faster than my second mile, but not today.  I felt like I might enter puke zone or worse if I sped up.

AM Bike Ride

Distance - 17.5 miles

Time - 1:12:41

Avg Speed - 14.4 mph

Max Speed - 21.4 mph

Temp -  86

I don't think I ever stopped sweating after my run.  Not a fun ride today.

PM Bike Ride

Distance - 17.5 miles

Time - 1:02:29

Avg Speed - 16.8 mph

Max Speed - 25.0 mph

Temp -  ??? hot

The ride home was much more enjoyable, but the wind picked up at the end again.

A 7:43 pace sounds pretty good to me. Not nearly as good as the Reese's though. When it comes to sweets, I am weak!

From JohnnyV on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 12:31:40 from 204.124.13.151

Great Pace, especially if you were nearing the puke zone. That usually slows me down.

From auntieem on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 12:34:37 from 67.182.145.8

Those seem like fast splits to me! And a bike ride as well.

I love bacon.

From Burt on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 13:00:46 from 68.76.197.194

Mike - I think I'll go for a Nestle Crunch Shake tonight.

Johnny - The puke zone was at a slower pace just for today. It should be in the sub 7's.

Auntie Em - I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Just puked reading your blog...too descriptive for me...

From Merri on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 13:36:07 from 207.88.76.69

That's a pretty sweet pace for high cholesterol. :)

From Burt on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 13:51:49 from 68.76.197.194

Eric - Yes! Misery loves company.

Merri - You should see my blood pressure. I used to love to go stick my arm in the machines at WalMart and walk away so that the next person would see how unhealthy I was.

I almost stopped reading when you said "last night my wife . . "

From Burt on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 16:31:52 from 68.76.197.194

Yeah Paul. Reese's is code word for something else.

From Merri on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 22:04:31 from 207.88.76.69

have your daughters keep making breakfast until they make kevin bacon.

From auntieem on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 22:10:42 from 67.182.145.8

You've ruined bacon for me, even Kevin.

From Burt on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 23:41:13 from 98.167.151.26

Anji - now you're talking. Nothing wrong with that while training for a marathon.

Merri - good one.

Auntie Em - I really do like bacon. It just might be a while before I eat it again.

From Kelli on Tue, Jul 07, 2009 at 23:43:57 from 71.219.89.21

Awesome workouts today! Sorry about the grease, that smell may last for a while!

From Britta on Wed, Jul 08, 2009 at 17:31:54 from 72.130.108.181

Cooking the bacon in oil is soooo funny!!! Deep fried Bacon anyone?

From Burt on Wed, Jul 08, 2009 at 17:35:57 from 68.76.197.194

At least they didn't burn the house down. We can't get mad at them even though they cooked it all at 5 in the morning, and didn't want to wake us up, so it sat out getting cold for a couple of hours.
