Time: 2:02:29 (avg. pace 9:21) New PR for HM!!

Splits:

1 mile - 8:00 - I wish I could run the whole thing at this pace

2 mile - 7:56 - Still feel really good

3 mile - 8:19 - a guy passed me casually on a bike.  I wondered if a Sasha Pachev or a Jeff Shadley could keep up with him.

4 mile - 8:36

5 mile - 8:47

6 mile - 9:10 - Wondering if I should've drank the Cytomix before I ran.  The package says to drink 5 fl. oz. after 15 min. of working out, and then repeat at 15 min. intervals.  I drank the whole thing at once.

7 mile - 9:23

8 mile - 9:22

9 mile - 9:46 - Saw 8 bunnies on this mile.

10 mile - 10:09

11 mile - 10:28

12 mile - 11:17 - Yes, I was getting slower and slower, but this was in sand.

13 mile - 10:25 - In the parking lot at Rittenhouse and Ellsworth

0.1 mile - 0:53 - Man were my legs burning.

Finish time: 7:30 pm

Temp: 90 when I started.  80 when I finished.

Well, I'm not in the best shape yet to run a good half.  20 miles a week isn't cutting it.  My speed is coming along great for shorter races, but I need to put more miles in.  I want to run the Havasu Half.  It's only 2 weeks away.

Holy smokes Burt! That is amazing :) I love the bunnies... did you talk to them???

From Burt on Thu, Mar 19, 2009 at 23:36:30 from 98.167.151.26

Marion - I don't know what's crazier; the fact that you talk to animals, or the fact that you expect them to talk back. I was cursing their cute little fluffy tails.

From sam on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 06:03:03 from 78.32.130.9

Burt, that is fantastic well done, and counting bunnies, I talk to myself sometimes especially when it starts to hurt.

I shouted on the 5k race, on the last 0.5k, I think I called myself a fat arse, "come on fat arse" the guys thought it was funny at the finnish, so did I, hahaha lol :)

From Burt on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 11:59:29 from 68.76.197.194

I must admit, Sam, I thought of you when I saw the bunnies because your such a happy bunny. :) Fat arse! Ha!

From Burt on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 12:06:35 from 68.76.197.194

Yikes. I can't believe I used 'your' instead of 'you're'. That's not like me.

From Kelli on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 12:20:59 from 71.219.76.202

Holy crud that is HOT!!! No more running in that heat, your shorts WILL fall off!!! You know you should weigh yourself after a run and drink the same amount of ounces that you lost, right???? Scott loses 6-8 pounds every times he runs, then he has to drink the entire swimming pool.

From Burt on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 12:35:12 from 68.76.197.194

It wasn't too hot.

From camille on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 13:50:52 from 71.223.67.112

nice going Burt. It was that hot yesterday, wasn't it? I was trying to find the temp when I was writing my blog, but I couldn't. (because I wrote my entry a good 3 to 4 hours later and the weather channel wouldn't show me the previous temps for the day). I just remember thinking... good crud, poor Melanie is going to bake to death out here.

From Burt on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 13:58:54 from 68.76.197.194

I know 90 is hot, but it wasn't all that uncomfortable for me for some reason. And I was wearing a long sleeve shirt.

From twinkies on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 18:24:53 from 63.241.173.64

Long sleeves in 90 degree weather is just wrong. I break out the shorts and t-shirt if the temp get above 40. Great run Burt.

From James W on Fri, Mar 20, 2009 at 23:40:36 from 70.190.199.29

Great job, Burt! Keep up the training, get in more miles, and you will be sure to break 2 hours at the havasu 1/2 (which actually sounds really interesting to me as well - I might have to check it out). Are you driving their with your family or by yourself?

From Burt on Sat, Mar 21, 2009 at 02:05:02 from 98.167.151.26

I'll be going by myself, but I need to swing by Kingman afterwards and pick up a washer and dryer. Thinking about carpooling?

From Kelli on Sat, Mar 21, 2009 at 20:59:20 from 71.219.76.202

You must be a true Arizonian---wearing long sleeves in 90 degrees. I would pass out.

When is your half that you are running?

From Burt on Sat, Mar 21, 2009 at 21:38:47 from 98.167.151.26

Apr. 4th. Conference weekend of course. Why do I always do that?

From Kelli on Sat, Mar 21, 2009 at 21:39:12 from 71.219.76.202

They should know better than to have races on that weekend!

From James W on Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 00:13:31 from 208.54.14.115

well, SGM is held every year on conference weekend . . .

From Camille on Sun, Mar 22, 2009 at 15:44:57 from 71.223.67.112

That is true... and *they* really should know better! Good point James!

From James W on Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 12:09:04 from 12.151.72.1

Well, I *was* thinking about doing the race and possibly carpooling with you, but I think that it is not going to happen.
