This morning I ran South Mountain with Glen.  Nobody else on our Ragnar team showed up.  We ran up National Trail and looped back through Mormon Trail.  I think Glen has his mojo back because he was really pushing the pace today.  My shins didn't bother me at all, and I was worried about my back because yesterday it was  killing me.  But it loosened up.  I think it was about 600 feet of vert.  Vert.  What a fun thing to say.

Can't wait to read about all the St. George half marathon race reports.

Time - 54:11 (avg. pace 9:43)

Splits - 9:19, 12:02, 10:34, 9:18, 8:24, 4:35 for 0.57 (7:58 pace)

Just added a couple of pics from the top.

Great pictures. I'm glad your shins didn't hurt.

From Bonnie on Sat, Jan 22, 2011 at 20:28:12 from 150.135.115.180

that looks like an awesome run Burt!! I like it a lot. Maybe Phoenix isn't as bad as I thought ;)

From The Quiet Pirate on Sat, Jan 22, 2011 at 22:48:36 from 71.77.158.102

Beautiful photos from the trail! I'm envious of your view.

From RAD on Sat, Jan 22, 2011 at 23:56:59 from 166.128.198.40

Love the pics! Nice work on the run, glad all the little aches worked themselves out. Way to get some VERT BURT!

From Burt on Sun, Jan 23, 2011 at 00:04:12 from 72.223.84.236

Catherine - thanks. It's nice to know you care.

Bonnie! Actually, that doesn't hurt my feelings. We should run South Mtn. together sometime. Once I saw a coyote.

QP - I do have a nice view.

RAD - I was hoping someone would use that rhyme!

5.5 miles with 600 feet vert. Nice run. And great pictures.

From Derunzo on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 08:48:00 from 65.220.66.195

Looks like a great run. Is it snake country out there?

From flatlander on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 11:39:47 from 76.31.26.153

Beautiful run, really miss the desert some days and those pictures don't help at all!

From Burt on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 11:48:01 from 206.19.214.144

allie - I have a good friend that's an Aggie. But he says you're not a true Aggie unless you're kissed under the A. (Not sure what that means.)

PRE - Thanks. The pictures don't do the view justice. You can see pretty much all of Phoenix from up there.

Derunzo - I haven't seen any snakes yet. Then again, I've only seen a handful of them out here. We're so urbanized. But I did see a lizard on my block wall yesterday, so maybe soon.

Flat - You commented on my blog 24 seconds after I commented on yours.

From catherine on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 11:54:59 from 216.49.181.254

Now I'm curious about whether Allie is a true Aggie. :)

From Lily on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 11:58:23 from 67.199.181.73

Allie know's she wantsa route for the Utes ;)

Hey Burt those picture are beautiful and your vert is sweet! Those splits and that mileage aren't to shabby either! Nice work!

From Burt on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 12:12:41 from 206.19.214.144

Cathy - To be a true BYU Idahoan you just have to copy a kiss under the Y.

Lily - that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me. Now you're my best friend.

From catherine on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 12:18:05 from 216.49.181.254

Wow - way to drop Melody. I'd think naming a child after you would trump a blog comment.

From Burt on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 13:07:42 from 206.19.214.144

I'm so fickle.

From allie on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 13:29:56 from 161.38.218.168

correction: you are only a "true aggie" if you have kissed on top of the A. it's an A-shaped pedestal on campus. you have to kiss on it at midnight on a full moon.

you become a "true blue aggie" if you ride the bull statue naked -- bonus points if you do it in the winter. yes, logan is a fun place to live.

i may or may not be a true blue aggie, and i may or may not have been caught wearing only boots for performing (or not performing) that stunt.

From Lily on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 14:18:16 from 67.199.181.73

I bet you were wearing the boots..and only the boots, Uh hum. yep.

From Burt on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 14:30:41 from 206.19.214.144

That doesn't sound sanitary.

From DonGardinero on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 22:01:25 from 152.216.3.5

Burt...Vert...Burt...Vert. No wonder you like that word.

From Merri on Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 23:42:05 from 160.7.252.148

vert is trev back-weirds.

From Rhett on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 11:26:35 from 74.32.222.21

Love the photos. The desert is beautiful. I don't care what others say about it.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 17:00:40 from 206.19.214.144

Bishop - I agree. Now we have to convince Kelli.
