This is my favorite run.  I just looked and saw that a year ago today I ran this same route.  Glen and I met at the butt crack of dawn.  It was beautiful  out.  The PF Changers are gonna love it tomorrow.  It was interesting to see how my splits compared to last year and when we ran it Dec. 12, 2009.  Usually Glen beats me as we run downhill, but today I beat him.  It wasn't like we were racing or anything.  I just wanted to get that last mile under 7 minutes.

Time - 1:18:12 (avg. pace 8:31)

Splits - 9:05, 9:55, 9:40, 8:55, 8:35, 8:41, 7:43, 7:33, 6:52, 1:26 for 0.18 (7:51 pace)

When I got to the bottom of the hill there were these two girls on their bicycles.  I said good morning to them.  One of them said good morning back to me in her sexiest voice.  But it was the kind of sexy voice that says, "I'm just teasing you because I think you're a dork."  So I finished my run and looked at my shirt.  I saw that I had BNS.  Not baldnspicy.  Bloody nipple syndrome.  Dang it!!!

Yes! I'm in the top 100 for miles on the year. So what if I'm #99?

From josse on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 14:10:22 from 75.220.165.253

nice job:)

From Carolyn in Colorado on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 14:20:36 from 71.229.134.155

That was a very visual post. But eew, about the BNS.

From Burt on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 14:28:06 from 72.223.84.236

Thanks Josse.

CinC - I could have made it more visual, if you catch my drift. Or should I say drip?

From allie on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 14:37:19 from 174.23.123.195

nice job, burt. i actually think the early morning hours are known as the hand crack of dawn. butt you can call it whatever you'd like.

and for the record, BNS is much more disturbing than CHS.

i wish i were one of those pf changers tomorrow. i even booked a hotel room last fall just in case i decided to run it. i cancelled it yesterday.

From Lily on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 14:50:24 from 67.199.181.73

SICK!

From Scott Wesemann on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 16:34:00 from 75.162.89.170

Most chicks really dig the BNS from my experience.

From Rye on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 16:51:24 from 174.27.109.84

I need some help with the acronyms!

From Dan on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 16:56:26 from 24.209.83.20

I am learning quite a bit here. Thanks for the education! Burt... remember how we said the weather guy was the same guy that wrote the fortune cookie fortunes? Well the darnedest thing happened. I got my fortune cookie and the fortune said 'I peed in your rice'. Ever get one of those?

From Burt on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 18:35:31 from 72.223.84.236

allie - don't cancel that room! I'll take it. I could use a night away from this crazy mad house. Er, I mean, I love it here!

Lily - it's a medical condition!

Scott - really? Maybe I should wear a sandpaper bra.

Rye - urban dictionary. You'll find all the help you need there.

Dan - serious? Oh man that's funny.

From JD on Sat, Jan 15, 2011 at 23:12:51 from 209.183.51.130

Butt cracks and bloody nipples. I can always count on you for inspiration!

From The Quiet Pirate on Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 08:34:07 from 71.77.158.102

I got hungry reading your blog and thinking about Chang's tasty food...until the BNS.

I've said it before & I'll say it again, you could really benefit from some furry shirt liners. Or even fur patches sewn into the right spot on your shirts.

Imagine how luxurious it would feel to have mink gliding over and cushioning your chest on a run.... then the girls would use their real sexy voices.

Nice run, btw. Elevation, distance, and speed!

From april27 on Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 09:07:04 from 99.188.251.180

Put some bandaids over those babies! or some body glide!

From Burt on Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 13:51:48 from 72.223.84.236

QP - If you make me a mink bra, I will totally wear it.

April - Body Glide is $8 a stick. I glopped on some Vaseline, but it's just not cutting it. No pun intended.

From seeaprilrun on Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 14:10:17 from 68.103.248.137

Nice run Burt and killer finish!

From april27 on Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 14:57:13 from 99.188.251.180

IMO spending 8 bucks on body glide is better than bloody nipples!

From Brent on Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 15:26:42 from 76.8.201.223

Burt, butt cracks and sexy, don't seem to go together, the run looks like the middle of no where? Are you sure they girls were really their? Dorks and running go together, were are in great company. Good run, up and down,

Stay kool, B of BS rools out

From Burt on Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 18:13:52 from 72.223.84.236

April - Thanks. I remember last time I ran this and had a sub 8 for the 9th mile. I told Glen that I've never run a 9th mile that fast EVER.

Other April - That's your opinion. Let's agree to disagree.

Brent - The road is a favorite for cyclists and people going to the lake or offroading. It's one of the longest steepest hills you can run in this area. The start of the run is where you rent tubes to go tubing down the Salt River.

From steve ash on Sun, Jan 16, 2011 at 18:21:45 from 98.202.79.72

Maybe next time wear mesh? Just kidding man. Cool graphics, I only wish I was smart enough to figure out how to do that stuff.

From ChrisM on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 06:10:39 from 86.150.0.116

the obvious solution is not to wear a shirt

or wear a shirt but cut out holes where your nipples are to avoid any rubbing?

From artichoke on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 12:34:36 from 97.126.184.10

I had BNS @ SGM & OMG I LOL'd.

From Camille on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 14:43:47 from 71.223.97.128

hey, you were running by my house!

So this Saturday I need to run 20 miles. I think Bethany might be running with me and she wants to run Usery Pass... wanna join us (if not for the whole thing, for a part of it). P.S. I won't be running fast.

From Camille on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 14:44:38 from 71.223.97.128

hey, did you drop me from your friends? I'll remember that!

From Burt on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 14:47:17 from 206.19.214.144

LOL Camille. If someone hasn't blogged for a month, they get dropped. I can add you back now :)

I might join you this Saturday, although we talked about running South Mountain. You should join me Thursday night at Las Sendas.

From Camille on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 14:49:30 from 71.223.97.128

What time are you going? This might sound lame, but Thursday night is BUNCO night, and I really need the girls night. Bunco starts at 7.

From Burt on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 14:52:48 from 206.19.214.144

Ha! My wife has BUNCO this Wed. We start at 7:30 pm. We've been doing it pretty regularly every week, so feel free to join us.

From Camille on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 14:54:32 from 71.223.97.128

Maybe I'll catch you next week then. Thursdays can be crazy. Brandon's calling requires him to go to meetings on Thursday nights, so I'll have to see what his plan is. How far do you run? Who is "we"

From Burt on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 15:09:34 from 206.19.214.144

Choke - WTB?

Camille - Glen Lowery, Marilyn Freeman, Lyndsay Jones, Elizabeth Curtis, and Natalie Carter.

From Merri on Mon, Jan 17, 2011 at 22:19:14 from 160.7.252.148

Dawn's butt crack really is the best place to start a run at for sure.

From Derunzo on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 10:14:33 from 65.220.66.195

Serious mileage!

From Chad on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 10:33:59 from 168.177.153.5

Let's talk about something a little less gross, like vomit.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 15:25:07 from 206.19.214.144

Merri - yep. You really don't want to hang around that place for too long.

Derunzo Funzo - now if I can just be more consistent.

Chad - I've yet to throw up while running. Maybe I need to push myself harder.

From Kam on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 16:02:13 from 68.66.163.179

Burt, spring for the glide. Runners warehouse has it for $5. Plus shipping. Oh, crap. I guess it's still going to cost you $8 unless you buy some new kicks, then shipping is free.

From Tracy on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 16:26:17 from 209.175.177.37

Maybe she finds bloody nips sexy?

From Burt on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 16:29:15 from 206.19.214.144

Kam - I've been wearing my UnderArmor shirts more regularly now. They seem to help. As for new kicks, I prefer to win mine in raffles. That way I don't have to pay for them ;)

Tracy - you could be right. Chicks dig battle wounds.
