Talk about sweaty dust.  This morning I got up at 4:30am to go to my sister-in-law Suzie's house in Chandler to wheelbarrow rock to her backyard.  My brother-in-law Curtis, not Suzie's husband, gave me, my boy, and his friend a ride over there.  I shoveled some.  I pushed a few wheelbarrows.  But I mostly spread the rock.  There ended up being seven of us on the job, so it didn't take long.  But it started to get dusty from all the rock dumping, and I was working up a sweat.  Before I knew it my brand new white Puma running shirt was a tannish brown hue.  At 7am we were done.  I declined the donuts and milk and with a Tropical Blend Gatorade in one hand and my water bottle in the other I started on my way.

I got lucky as the sun stayed behind the clouds for most of the run.  I kept the pace nice and slow.  My HR was 272.  Wait, I don't wear a heart monitor.  That was my IQ.  As I approached mile 6 I decided it was okay to finish off my fluids because I could stop at Freestone Park and refill.  At mile 8.5 Curtis came driving by.  I don't know if he was worried I wouldn't make it and came looking for me or what.  At mile 9.9 the sprinklers were on at the park near the canal.  Remember that park Tracy?  I ran through them.  It was like a dream come true.  I ran by the bench were I saw a vagrant sleeping the other day.  It's a brand new bench, and he's already staked his claim!  Wish I would have claimed it.  But you snooze, you lose.  Or in his case, you snooze, you win.

Time - 1:42:22 (avg. pace 9:58)

Temp - 91

I love reading your posts, Burt. Always entertaining. Nice mileage.

From RAD on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 14:21:12 from 98.202.17.113

Glad you didn't snooze this morning so that you could be the winner :)

I think 'yard work' needs it's own cross-training section. It isn't easy work, but then to run a good paced 10 miles afterward? Nice!

a 272 IQ, huh? See...just something else you can beat me at! :)

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 14:51:23 from 72.223.90.99

Julie thank! Your 75 mile week is incredible!

RAD - you're beating me on the Quantcast.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 14:56:02 from 76.25.72.82

Are you sure 272 isn't your weight? It's certainly not your heart your or your IQ. It must be something else.

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 15:00:26 from 72.223.90.99

My weight??? It's not my Quantcast. Maybe it's my area code. Call me.

From anji on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 15:14:10 from 74.211.95.73

272 (mph) is probably how fast you were going.......I'm surprised you didn't get pulled over for breaking the speed limit!....those tickets in AZ are expensive.....I would know!

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 15:45:22 from 72.223.90.99

I've only gotten a ticket in California. Stupid Erik Estrada!

From RAD on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 15:54:03 from 98.202.17.113

what is quantcast?

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 15:55:26 from 72.223.90.99

At the top of your blog. It tells you how many people come to your blog every month little Miss Popular.

From RAD on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 16:03:01 from 98.202.17.113

I've never noticed that before...I don't think! Interesting, I wouldn't have known what it meant if I did notice it. However, you ARE beating me there too...Mr Popularity!

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 16:05:28 from 72.223.90.99

You're at 260. I'm at 259. You don't know how to count.

From RAD on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 16:07:53 from 98.202.17.113

oh yeah, well maybe you don't know how to read. I see 274 on yours! So, it is clear that I can't choose mine as the winner - I see the 260 there.

From Tracy on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 17:19:24 from 173.24.38.54

I remember the park. I don't remember the vagrant.

10 miles after yard work? I'm with RAD. I think a few hours of yard work is equivalent to at least 5 miles. Or you could measure how many miles by how much you sweat. For you? 1 L = 1 mi.

From Steve Piccolo on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 17:20:19 from 67.2.46.110

I never would have thought your IQ was that low.

Gotta love Freestone Park.

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 21:24:55 from 72.223.90.99

Tracy - some day I'll do an experiment on how much I sweat. How do you suggest I capture it? Tape sponges to my body?

Pic - good ol' Freestone. The water was warm, but it was wet.

From catherine on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 22:06:31 from 64.134.228.43

Congrats on the sprinklers.

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 22:22:47 from 72.223.90.99

Catherine! Your blog's not private anymore. How's that baby?

From catherine on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 22:26:04 from 64.134.228.43

Burt! I see 259, too. And the baby's super cute.

From Brent on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 23:49:39 from 66.7.127.67

Love is a heart ache, better keep love in the bag if 272 is the result, now, you could have staked that park bench with muddy sweat marks - it was there for the taking. 100 commando points for the good deed and getting your run in to boot, das boot, cowboy boot, boot in the butt, booott...

Anyway, nice migrant work and good run.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 23:53:19 from 72.223.90.99

Thanks Brent. You rool.

From Burt on Sat, Jul 02, 2011 at 23:57:43 from 72.223.90.99

Catherine - I knew RAD was crazy.

From flatlander on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 01:03:06 from 76.31.26.153

That's a good day you had there, congratulations.

From RAD on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 01:20:29 from 98.202.17.113

NOW it says 259...I guess earlier in the day more people liked you, but now... I win! :)

From SlowJoe on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 10:44:24 from 75.109.104.60

classic post, nice run.

From Burt on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 13:32:08 from 72.223.90.99

Did running through tthe sprinklers clean your shirt?

From Scott Wesemann on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 17:37:36 from 75.162.75.96

Nice miles/run Burt. Nobody sweats quite like you.

From Burt on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 19:00:21 from 72.223.90.99

Yes Chris. Running through the reclaimed sewage water did clean my shirt.

Scott - Thanks bro. It's a talent.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 23:18:34 from 24.22.239.183

I'm also guilty of running through sprinklers. I never thought I would do that at 43. No, that's not my IQ or my HR.

From Daniel Brunson on Mon, Jul 04, 2011 at 14:46:31 from 98.184.136.74

Good workout Burt. I second the motion that yard work deserves its own cross training category.

From Lily on Mon, Jul 04, 2011 at 22:05:34 from 67.199.178.210

LOL! Scott's comment. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

From anji on Tue, Jul 05, 2011 at 13:37:14 from 74.211.95.73

i think your new nick name should be "Sweaty Dust"!

From julieesplin on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 at 16:35:55 from 75.169.167.214

Freestone Park, I went there with my sister. It feels like we're neighbors now. I'm glad to hear that spot with no bench now has a bench. 272 was the temperature of the water coming out of the sprinklers.
