I meant to run this distance Saturday, but I was too lazy to do it in the morning and never got a chance in the evening.  I still wanted to do it because I have the Rim Country Challenge Half Marathon this Saturday (while everyone else is doing SGM.)  I need to make sure I can even run the distance.  I felt pretty good even though I was very thirsty.  I even got to the point where I talked myself into picking up any bottle of liquid laying on the side of the road for a few swigs.  The first one I saw was a beer bottle, so I passed that up.  Then I saw a jug of Arizona Green Tea, so I passed that up.  Then I saw a Coca-Cola bottle, and I passed that up.  On the WOW scale, they were getting better, but I decided to just man up and wait 'til I got home.  Now the plan is to taper down to 3 miles a day until Friday.  Then I'll run a couple of miles in Payson to try and acclimate to the higher elevation.  Then Saturday's the race.  Hopefully I just miss the first session only of General Conference.

Way to go Burt! You totally rock. 8th in the milage board without running yesterday (because lets face it, some people cheated and ran yesterday). Are you ready for Saturday?

Good job resisting temptation and getting up before 0500. I probably would have to stop talking to you if you had resorted to drinking garbage.

Burt! The whole garbage thing was added after I checked out your milage this morning. Gross! I'm glad you decided to be a man and hold off. If you hadn't, I sure as heck would be making fun of you today at the office LOL

Thanks for the welcome! Good luck on your Marathon this weekend!!

For one, I probably would not have admitted it if I had partaken of any mystery juice. Actually, I saw a gatorade bottle, too, but it looked like pee. For two, I wouldn't have had those thoughts if I hadn't seen the episode of Man vs. Wild where he peed in the snake skin and drank it later. Strange things go through your head when you're putting the miles in on the open road. :P

Thanks for the well wishes on my half marathon, Melody. Sorry you had to be privy to this.

From Camille on Mon, Sep 29, 2008 at 19:09:41

Burt... once again, gross! But, I have to say that I know you well enough to know that you actually would admitt to drinking the mystery juice. (though maybe not on your blog). LOL I'm glad you choose not to.
