I went running with my Vegas Ragnar team this morning.  I think everyone's okay with the team name being Burt Rules.  We had a wicked dust storm here last night.  A lot of people were posting pictures on Facebook, and they were unreal.  It's still kind of hazy out so we took it nice and easy.

Time - 45:33 (avg. pace 10:10)

Splits - 9:35, 9:58, 10:15, 10:37, 5:08

Here are the pictures from yesterday's "haboob."  Real word.

You're so humble.

From RAD on Wed, Jul 06, 2011 at 11:32:59 from 98.202.17.113

You need to post some of those pics here!

Nice run with hopefully nice folks. At least if they think you rule they can't be all that bad :)

Burt Rules or Burt's Rules?

I was on the freeway when it hit. Pretty cool watching it come in and then a little scary driving in the dark in the wind next to big trucks getting blown around.

From Tracy on Wed, Jul 06, 2011 at 13:28:09 from 173.24.38.54

That's a pretty crazy looking sandstorm. I like team #350's name.

From ChrisM on Wed, Jul 06, 2011 at 17:25:29 from 86.10.81.85

You walked into the spurs party like you were walking onto a yacht

Your 'I love the spurs' hat strategically dipped below one eye

Your spurs scarf it was apricot

You had one eye in the mirror as you

watched yourself gavotte

And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner

They'd be your partner, and...

You're so humble, you probably think this blog is about you

You're so humble, I'll bet you think this blog is about you

Don't you? Don't You?

RAB - how about Burt's Harem, and I make everyone fan me with palm leaves and feed me grapes.

AZDM - I didn't even know it was coming until it was on us. I must have missed the Emergency Broadcast System alert.

Tracy - I could totally be the captain of that team. I meet all three qualifications.

Chris - Is that song about me? I think it is.

That habeeb looks insane. It's like you guys live in the middle east. Sheesh.

From RAD on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 at 15:02:31 from 98.202.17.113

WOW! Those pictures are so unreal! On the weather last night they did a time lapse of it and I couldn't believe it! Those pics are amazing. Thanks Burt - you Rool! :)

From Rob on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 at 15:07:39 from 72.255.96.96

You can almost see the demon mummy face in that second to last picture. Just like in the Mummy!! Except your mummy has a big nose Burt.

From Holt on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 at 15:09:26 from 97.126.207.32

I saw that on the news - way impressive!

From ChrisM on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 at 15:22:57 from 86.10.81.85

we would not stand for that here in England

From Burt on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 at 15:46:01 from 206.19.214.144

Rob - did you just insult my mom?

The dust storm was awesome, but it's bark is really worse than its bite. The only real danger is if you're driving, the visibility is dramatically decreased. And it's not good if you have lung conditions. I walked across the street and was never in any danger of getting sucked into a different dimension over the rainbow.

From julieesplin on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 at 16:39:07 from 75.169.167.115

That is amazing! I never heard that type of thing called a haboob before. If I hadn't heard it on the news yesterday I would have thought you made it up and there was some inside joke I didn't know about.

From The Quiet Pirate on Fri, Jul 08, 2011 at 09:33:16 from 174.110.223.249

A lung condition? Like needing them for breathing?

Cool pix & I think the team name is awesome...'cause you're awesome.

From flatlander on Fri, Jul 08, 2011 at 19:05:58 from 76.31.26.153

Those pictures look like a movie, glad it didn't amount to much. Doesn't it ever rain in Arizona?

From seeaprilrun on Fri, Jul 08, 2011 at 22:05:19 from 174.70.177.86

MR said he was running and got caught in a haboob while in Iraq. He could taste the dirt particles in the thick fog. Nice exfoliate for the skin though, like a free dermabrasion.

From Burt on Sun, Jul 10, 2011 at 19:39:21 from 72.223.90.99

Dermabrasion. What every soldier wants.
