I wanted to get a long run in in the heat of the day for some last minute Ragnar training.  It was 4pm before I finally made it out.  I took 4 Orange Mango electrolyte strips that dissolve on your tongue.  I put a bottle of PowerAde in the back of my truck so I could drink it after the first loop.  I'm not promoting PowerAde.  There was just a better deal than Gatorade.  Then I ran 0.7 miles to Fry's Marketplace to take back the Red Box DVD's.  Date Night and Karate Kid.  They were both good.

Then I continued on trying to push a good pace on that first loop.  I was trying to feed off the energy of Nan's awesome performance today.  But that was making me emotional, so it didn't help much.  I finished the first loop and drank my PowerAde.  Then I went out for my second loop nice and easy.

I felt pretty good.  I don't think I could run a marathon anytime soon, but I'm looking forward to upping my miles and maybe doing one next year.

Time - 1:26:55 (avg. pace 8:40)

Splits - 8:11, 8:17, 8:08, 8:19, 8:33, 8:49, 8:55, 9:07, 9:15, 9:07

I had some some P90X Recovery Drink when I was done, and I will promote that.  Order yours today. :)

Given that we only have two flavours of gatorade I think I might have a hard time getting hold of the P90X recovery drink? LOL

Maybe you could do a marathon P90X workout instead?

From artichoke on Sun, Oct 17, 2010 at 09:57:35 from 97.126.187.19

Great effort on that long run in the heat. Way to go!

"The whole reason I do the workout is for the recovery drink."

From allie on Sun, Oct 17, 2010 at 13:00:46 from 174.23.232.22

where to begin? first, what was the temperature like at 4 pm? i bet it was brutally hot. good job.

of course you were promoting powerade. and fry's. and red box.

i have never seen karate kid, but i did see date night. please don't tell me that you hate tina fey.

i definitely think you should run a marathon next year. TOU. or maybe UVM?

Chris - What would constitute a P90X marathon? 90 days isn't enough?

Choke - Thanks. It was actually fun, and didn't feel so hot.

Nicole - "Isn't that recovery drink money?" LOL!

allie - I started writing my entry last night and made a typo. I then hit backspace a couple of times and it left the page. So I lost my entry. I hate this laptop. (Add it to the list.) Anyway, in my first entry I mentioned it was 85 degrees. I guess I forgot to put that back in. So, it wasn't too bad. Tina Fey is okay. She's funny. I don't like her sexiness.

From Burt on Sun, Oct 17, 2010 at 14:12:19 from 68.225.214.248

Speaking of sexiness, I forgot the most interesting part of my run yesterday. I got about half a mile away from my house, and something in my nose was really bothering me. I thought it was a booger so I kept pinching my nose hoping it would either fall out or adjust to where it wasn't bothering me anymore. But it felt like a gnat had flown up there. Then I saw two teenagers out in there yard watching me so I yelled, "A bug flew up my nose!" so they wouldn't think I was picking it. When I got home and looked in the mirror I saw this big black hair sticking out my left nostril. What the heck is that all about? I guess the hair growing back on my back has triggered the growth of my nostril hairs. I pulled it out. It didn't hurt like most nostril hair pullls where you immediately start crying.

For a P90X marathon I think you need to do 3 P90X workouts back to back. A marathon is approximalty 3 x my daily amount of 9 miles when marathon training. or something

That problem could be easily solved by getting your nose waxed??

From SlowJoe on Sun, Oct 17, 2010 at 19:39:27 from 214.13.130.104

The best part of that story was the loosely-seated nose hair. I guess the old wives' tale is true about it growing back thicker in your nose when you shave your chest. I think that's how it goes anyway.

Great run Burt. Good luck with the Ragnar. That race is always some kind of a partay!

From flatlander on Mon, Oct 18, 2010 at 09:56:16 from 76.31.26.153

Very nice run in the heat. You are lining up for some good races soon.

From Eric Day on Mon, Oct 18, 2010 at 11:32:56 from 189.192.33.41

Are you ready for Ragnar now? Hope you do great?

From Nan on Fri, Oct 22, 2010 at 10:33:34 from 24.8.144.22

Aw, you got emotional thinking about my race? You're like my big brother or something. In fact you texted me JUST after I talked to my big brother on the phone after the race. Thanks for caring, Burt. :)

You've gotta teach me how to get these sweet "promotional considerations" going on!! How much do these companies pay you for that??? LOL

And one last thing...I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tina Fey. Quite possibly my favorite actress/writer of all time.

From Burt on Sun, Oct 24, 2010 at 13:51:39 from 24.121.236.100

Nan - you mean your sister is not your favorite actress of all time?

My favorite part in Napoleon Dynamite is her reaction after her mother goes, "You know you're going to that dance with that boy."
