I spent the better part of the first mile feeling sorry for myself for jumping on the scale this morning and seeing that I'm well above 200 lbs. again.  But after a few miles I said, "It's not that bad.  I can still run fast.  And I can lose it quickly if I make up my mind to stop eating all this crummy Easter candy."  So, here I go.

Time - 45:04 (8:12 avg. pace)

Splits - 8:25, 8:09, 8:06, 8:12, 8:07, 4:06

Stupid scale. Stupid Chocolate.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 12:41:24 from 72.102.209.5

What!? Chocolate bunnies will make me fatter instead of faster? I wonder if I can return all this junk to the dollar store.

From Burt on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 13:06:05 from 206.19.214.144

Rob - Stupid scaly chocolate!

Trap - When you take it back, tell them each item is worth at least $2. Double your investment.

From Merri on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 13:08:33 from 160.7.252.148

Good luck, I hate yummy easter candy and scales that don't lie.

From runningafterbabies on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 13:19:38 from 71.195.219.247

Just say no!

From Burt on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 13:27:00 from 206.19.214.144

Merri - you're probably one of those people that could eat all the Easter candy your heart desires and never gain a pound.

Melody - I did. You are looking at a new focused and determined Burt.

Oh, I forgot to put that I saw a lady running and we said good morning. Then I saw her again a couple of miles later because we were running in opposite directions around the block. So this time I put my hand up for a high five, and she left me hanging.

From allie on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 16:01:50 from 161.38.218.168

so you like jelly beans?

From Burt on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 16:04:21 from 206.19.214.144

allie - yes. I do. I really do. But I like chocolate more. Now why don't you go out and invent a chocolate jelly bean? Revolutionize the world.

From allie on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 16:24:15 from 161.38.218.168

chocolate jelly beans? ack! you can't mix textures like that. chocolate should be smooth and melty, not chewy and teeth-sticky.

also, pear jelly beans taste like hairspray.

From Burt on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 16:29:06 from 206.19.214.144

The original Hairspray starring Ricky Lake or the new one starring Nikki Blonsky?

From Merri on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 16:41:47 from 160.7.252.148

i swear I had an earwax flavor jelly bean once.

From Twinkies on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 16:41:57 from 72.37.171.44

Keep eating, keep running.

From auntieem on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 16:47:35 from 67.182.149.104

Of course you can still run fast! I am with you about the Easter candy; I am eating the last chocolate bunny today, while it is still my day off, and I don't want to see anymore chocolate until.....Next Easter?

From Burt on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 17:23:52 from 206.19.214.144

Merri - how would you know what earwax tastes like?

Twinkies - If a fast guy named Twinkies tells me to keep eating sugar, then I will!

auntieem - My philosophy is eat all as fast as you can, so you get rid of it quicker.

From SlowJoe on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 17:25:24 from 131.59.200.80

Get a new scale that doesn't give such obviously erroneous readouts.

From Steam8 on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 20:13:03 from 166.70.55.77

It was Vegas that did it to you! I put on 4 pounds over the weekend! Seriously, could not quit eating. Now I have some motivation to get back to running again. SOOOOOOOOOO glad to see that I am back on your favorite list! :)

From DaleG on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 20:53:24 from 152.216.7.5

Hey Burt, I feel your pain. My weight is inching closer and closer to 200. I'm going to do Weight Watchers again....startng tomorrow morning.

From Burt on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 21:13:07 from 206.19.214.144

Joe - clearly it's not calibrated right.

Steam8 - It may very well have been that Oreo milkshake I bought at Burger King. It didn't even taste that good.

Don Gardinero - Watch that weight! I had a chicken breast and an apple for lunch. I'm starving!

From DaleG on Mon, May 02, 2011 at 21:39:22 from 152.216.7.5

I'm allowed 41 points per day with Weight Watchers and I'm still starving all the time. It's rough. I get extra points for working out every day, but I STILL starve.

Earwax jelly beans are for REAL! I had a box in my pantry up until just a few months ago. The sardines and soap were the worst!

I honestly have had the same conversation/pity party with myself this last week as well Burt. You are still fast, so lets get faster!

From Merri on Tue, May 03, 2011 at 11:09:49 from 160.7.252.148

rachel is my soul sister. :)

From Burt on Tue, May 03, 2011 at 12:14:35 from 72.223.90.79

Soul sister. Conjoined twin. Whatever.

From Nan on Thu, May 05, 2011 at 18:45:55 from 98.245.117.176

Aw Crap. I hear ya. Last night I asked Aaron to please take the Easter candy and hide it somewhere far away from me. Being injured combined with endless candy around the house is not a good combo. Chocolate covered jelly beans on the other hand would be a brilliant combo! I regularly pop one jelly bean and one cadbury mini egg at the same time in an effort to achieve that amazingness...combined into one product would be MONEY!
