I planned on getting up really early this morning to run with JulieC before she moves to Tucson today.  But I didn't go to bed 'til after 1:30am.  And I had a feeling she wouldn't get up early either.  I found out later she didn't.  So I ran after I dropped my two girls off at school.  It was around 8AM and 90°F.  I wanted to run 4.5, but it was so hot, and I was slogging along.  I just went my normal 3 mile loop and got a drink from the magic fountain.

Don't forget.  Tonight's the The Third Thursday Adventure Run at Tempe Road Runner Sports.  That means free shoes for me...!  Actually, I'm going to give my voucher to my wife.  Aren't I romantic?

I'm gonna kick your butt at the TTAR @ TRRS.

From Burt on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 15:00:01 from 206.19.214.144

I'm just a volunteer! You're going to kick one of the volunteer's butts? That's so mean!

From Merri on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 15:05:50 from 160.7.252.148

I hate service.

From Bonnie on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 15:10:30 from 150.135.114.102

I hear you Merri, especially "voluunnteeer" service!

From Burt on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 15:15:53 from 206.19.214.144

No water for you two!

From Merri on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 15:16:23 from 160.7.252.148

Bonnie have you ever met Burt in person? What's he really like? Should he be volunteering? or is this part of his community service?

From Bonnie on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 15:24:47 from 150.135.114.102

ha ha ha ha Merri, that is pretty good. I have met Burt in person, and while he is pretty creepy, I don't think he has ever been caught yet (which implies he is sneaky as well) :-)

Seriously, Burt is much quieter in person than you would think, at one time I think he may have been shy, at least about sharing in farts and sweat in public.

From ACorn on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 15:47:55 from 24.2.76.146

You're a better man than me. I am more of a shoe hoarder than my better half. One of my girlier attributes!

From Burt on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 17:17:18 from 206.19.214.144

Merri - Do you think I just select random bloggers and put them on my Bloggers I've met in real life list?

Bonnie - My voice is shy, but my fingers are not. Uh, don't take that the wrong way. I meant with typing.

ACorn - At first when my wife asked if she could have the shoes I was like, "What? My shoes? I work so hard for them." But then I remembered that I love her, and I'll earn another pair in three months. I'm sure the two pairs I'm using right now will last until then.

From Rob on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 17:54:13 from 206.71.84.68

I need new shoes!

From Burt on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 18:25:17 from 206.19.214.144

Well Rob, if you needed new FREE shoes, then you should have come to the volunteer meeting back in JANUARY!!!

From Rob on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 11:40:32 from 206.71.84.68

That sounds like a lot of work for FREE shoes. I was just hoping some would show up on my doorstep. I'm lazy like that.

From The Quiet Pirate on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 13:23:50 from 152.26.59.252

Rob- what if Burt showed up on your doorstep without any shoes on?

Burt- you're hot.... when you run in 90 degree weather. Have fun volunteering!

From Burt on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 14:18:23 from 206.19.214.144

What if Burt showed up at your doorstep barefoot and pregnant?

QP - Volunteering was fun. First of all, Arizona Desert Monsoon was supposed to come. Instead, an Arizona desert monsoon came. A haboob, in fact. I spent about 30 minutes hanging on to vendor tents so they wouldn't blow away. Then, AZDM told me it was pouring out in East Mesa. I thought for sure we would get nailed soon. I told my wife to text me if the rain hit our house. We live in central Mesa. After a while I got the text. I was so worried we were going to get dumped on, but it never reached us out in Tempe. Thank goodness for that. Anyway, I got another two pairs of free socks, an awesome blue Asics running shirt, my $140 shoe voucher, a camelback quick grip water bottle valued at $22, two Muscle Milks, one of which I lost, three bottles of Power Aid, and two packs of Powerbar chocolate energy blasts. All in a night's work. Sorry, you're too lazy Rob. But you couldn't hold a tent down in a desert sand storm anyway. You're not Arabian enough.

That picture is even more disturbing than the last one.

From Steam8 on Sun, Aug 21, 2011 at 02:08:00 from 166.70.55.77

Very sweet Burt....unless she doesn't like to run and in that case, I hope she kicks you with them! :)

From CookieLegs on Sun, Aug 21, 2011 at 09:33:39 from 71.36.81.253

That's some nice booty for volunteering and maybe your wife will give you back the shoe voucher! :)

Seriously, though, about the photo . . . who's going to sneak in to Burt's house and take off with his photoshop software?

From Burt on Mon, Aug 22, 2011 at 13:09:22 from 206.19.214.144

Julie - Ok. I'll change my profile picture.

Steam8 - she doesn't like to run. So I guess I better bend over.

Adele - That is not a photoshopped picture: http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/cyclopes.asp
