Happy Cinco de Mayo!  Last night I took my wife to the movies.  We were going to watch the Avengers, but when we saw the line wrapped around the building we decided to go to the dollar theater and watch MI4.  It was ok.  I liked the other ones better.  Anyway, we bought tickets for the 9:25p showing, and we sat and waited for it to start.  And we waited.  And we waited.  Then I looked at my ticket, and it said 9:50p!  So we finally got out of the movie after midnight, and I didn't get to bed until after 1a.  I contemplated cancelling the run I had planned with my team, but that would make me a jerk.

I managed to get up at 4a and get ready.  Alyssa was the only other Ragnar teammate that came.  We ran Usery Pass.  3.7 miles up 700+ feet.  Then back down.  Neither Alyssa nor I have run since Ragnar two weeks ago.  But I felt surprisingly good.  Alyssa tried to keep up with me, but I could tell her breathing was labored.  After a while she just gave up and ran her own pace.  But she did awesome.  My overall pace was 9:31.  My new shoes worked out pretty good.  They're trainers, whatever that means.  I just saw that they were lightweight and stability.  They feel pretty good.

beautiful new shoes! now that you have trainers you have to start TRAINING! :)

Nice job on the run this morning - hills: I love 'em, but I HATE 'em!

RAD - let me take respond to your comment sentence by sentence: Thank you! Shut up! Thank you! You're confused with Ab Ripper X.

From SlowJoe on Sat, May 05, 2012 at 20:13:45 from 74.197.86.254

Did they let you into Whole Foods without shoes on? It's already kinda snooty in there....

Don't forget to log the miles - if it's not recorded on FRB, it didn't happen.

From Burt on Sat, May 05, 2012 at 20:31:13 from 72.223.82.180

Oh right. Now wonder my miles are so low for the year. I MUST not have been recording them correctly.

From DaleG on Sun, May 06, 2012 at 01:10:13 from 71.199.57.238

Nice run...For what it's worth, I don't know what they mean by "trainers" either. If they are trainers, what are we supposed to wear to races?

From Burt on Sun, May 06, 2012 at 01:17:35 from 72.223.82.180

I know, right?

From runningafterbabies on Sun, May 06, 2012 at 06:58:56 from 71.195.219.247

RAB - I'll sleep during testimony meeting.

Daniel - One of my Ragnar teammates made it for me because I am the Yoda of Ragnar.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Sun, May 06, 2012 at 19:14:01 from 174.233.133.199

Nice run on little sleep. Was it the sweet new shoes or the just the fear of being chicked that kept you going?

From Burt on Sun, May 06, 2012 at 21:37:41 from 72.223.82.180

I was hoping to get chicked Mike. I get nervous when I think people are staring at my butt.

From The Quiet Pirate on Tue, May 08, 2012 at 11:37:32 from 152.26.59.252

Burt- We have a train that runs through town. Maybe that's what a "trainer" is? You can run as fast as the Amtrack that goes through town!

From Tara on Tue, May 08, 2012 at 22:36:54 from 75.169.150.43

Hi Burt. Kam reminded me it was time to give you a hard time. I have nothing. Fun date though... How did you like the movie? You may have already given a review in your post, but I wouldn't know. I stopped at that part. Btw, you missed a call from the EQ pres. He wants to know where you've been. Also, my mom really thought I missed out on RS. Lol! Thanks a lot!

From Burt on Tue, May 08, 2012 at 22:57:14 from 174.235.129.129

First of all, bahahaha! Second of all, what does the EQP want with a HP? Oh yeah. Believe it.

From Tara on Wed, May 09, 2012 at 21:23:45 from 75.169.150.43

Yeah, that make sense since you're old;)

From MarkP on Wed, May 16, 2012 at 14:38:26 from 75.162.247.151

Hi Burt! I want to give you props on getting the fastrunningblog.com site mentioned in "Marathon and Beyond" May/June publication. I'll probably posted it on the discussion board!

From Tara on Wed, May 16, 2012 at 14:44:53 from 159.212.71.200

Hi, Burt.

From Burt on Wed, May 16, 2012 at 18:26:05 from 72.223.82.180

Thanks Mark. Actually Coach Cara of the blog hooked me up with that gig. She hasn't blogged for a while :(

Kam! You put Tara up to that, didn't you?

From Tara on Wed, May 16, 2012 at 19:08:28 from 75.169.145.24

Kam's really been bothering me a lot lately too. It's a personal problem I'm working on. Keep up the not running/posting thing...I'll do the same.

From Brent on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 20:15:46 from 66.7.127.67

Burt, what is up with the baby blue shoes, Elvis is in the house. Hey, are you doing the red rock relay? What advice do you have on shoe color and movies to get me ready for the relay.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 21:47:18 from 98.247.27.122

Brent - I have nothing to offer on shoe color, but please allow me to butt in and say that Saint Ralph is the best relay prep movie ever.

From I Just Run on Tue, May 22, 2012 at 09:19:42 from 67.79.11.242
